Live Target Blue/Silver Golden Shiner. There is two sizes but prefer the larger with salted shiner hooked in front and back hook parallel to lure. Also going to try the new Buckshot Flutter Spoon this year.

I’ll second the LiveTarget blue golden shiner but I prefer the 1/4 ounce. Either size works. If the bite is really on you don’t even need to use bait on it.

Yup. Live Target Blue/Silver Golden Shiner is probably the most popular lure on Winnipeg. I think there are three sizes. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4. The 1/2oz is the most popular but like ajaikens said they will all work.

Really any rattle bait will work. It is all about trying to bring the fish to you.

Some guys also started using big flutter/trolling spoons last winter. They were catching a lot of fish on them.

LT’s are a must along with some other various rattle baits. My best lure last season was indeed a very light 4″ glow/green or silver/blue trolling spoon. The hang time seemed to really get the strikes and drive them crazy.

This may seem obvious but the Live Targets are a lipless crank. Live Target makes several open water lures that are similar. Any good ice fishing tackle store will likely carry the lipless version.

Bladebaits in 1/4 oz., Rattle Baits and big spoons. Pink and white is my favorite color up there but when the bite is on color really doesn’t seem to matter all that much.

Big salmon spoons have been fantastic the last two years. LT are a staple, don’t be afraid to mix it up.

Live target either blade bait or jiggin rap type bait. These baits will cover you if the fish are looking for a horizontal presentation. The LT is for aggresive fish or calling them in. The blade bait or jiggin rap is for a more subtle horizontal presentation.

A 6″ thin salmon spoon for a reaction bit and a small flutter spoon or buckshot type spoon for a more subtle verticle presentation.

These 4 types of presentations will cover you on Lake Winnipeg.
