Will be making our winnie trip for the 20+ year. Was seeking info on the bite. Will be staying at Nodak Lodge. Dont need fishing spots just general info, snow, slush, bite, that sort of thing. Thanks from a Yooper

My brother was up to Winnie last weekend. He said the snow was very deep and slush was every where ranging from 4”-12”. Not a lot of roads anymore so parking on roads and hiking to your spots will most likely be the case. Unless you have a very good long track, wide track sled. But even long track sleds have trouble in slush like what’s out there currently.

We were up a couple weekends ago out of Highbanks and there is a ton of snow that made it tough to stay mobile. We caught a lot of small perch and a few keepers.

Not to plug another site but if you go to Jeff Sundin’s fishing report there is some very good info on current conditions on lake winnie.

We stopped there on the way back from LOW Monday and it was as much a mess as LOW. The deepest slush we found was around 14in deep. I had the wheelhouse so I dropped it at a friends house and we went out on sleds. Even then it was TOUGH getting around.

I’ve been watching the fishing reports pretty closely on Winnie all season wanting to go up there it’s not that far from me. But the reports all year have been to the point where they have discouraged me to go. It sounds like it’s even more of a mess as far as getting around as those resorts don’t have the equipment resources like LOTW or Red Lake resorts.

It’s like everywhere else right now tough going.

So my fishing partner called last night and said he talked to roger at Nodak lodge, and was told that they have not had any guest in the past two weeks. All their roads flooded and they had to give up on them. They are trying to get new roads established, but so far every time they cut a new one it floods. We were planning on leaving Sunday morning but are supposed to call this morning to find out if they are successful. I looked at Jeff Sundins report on Winnie Resort closures and it doesn’t look good. seems they’re all pulling the pin.
