Sturgeon spearing on Bago

After a very successful day on the upper lakes, the spearing was shut down after 6 hours. Most knew that might happen, and they applied for this. Several others still wanted to have there try on Bago, and the season went well longer then expected. The biggest fish I heard of speared was 168 lbs. Now this is just a rumor, I did not see the fish yet, hope I do soon. The season has ended after about 9 days, and i am not sure if they met the quota or not. I did hear that murky water was a huge factor in the season going so long.

As a reminder, all shanties must be off the lakes by March 5, 2005. do not get caught with your shack out there after that. Hate to see you get a fine. March 5, is a saturday, so mark it down on your calenders or honey-do-list.

Axl, any idea of how much ice is still on the bago chain as of 2-24-05?

I was out last week on Poygan in my shack, and we had over 20 inches there. I think there is still a few good weeks yet of solid ice, but use caution, you just never know when it can go bad quick.
