Looking for a wine to bring up to deer camp.
I don’t know much about wine and would appreciate some help.
Deer camp is not high class but the guys do enjoy having a bottle with their supper. Meals are always something along the lines of pot roast or beef stroganoff. I’m not sure if this is obvious but a dark red is always brought out.
If anyone has any suggestions on a type and brand please share.

    Thank you.

    Mookie,

My personal favorite wine for pairing with venison is Old Vine Red (Note This is the actual brand name, as “old vine” is also a type of wine). It is a nice Red blend that is not too dry, not too sweet, and not too expensive. waytogo

PS – Mookie Blaylock is one of my favorite usernames

Remembered the best Cabernet. It’s at total wine: Santiago station brand. name is Devils back. From chili it’s jammy yet somewhat dry. And it’s $5 a bottle better than any $15 wine I’ve tried. Dont let the twist off cap turn you off. No cork to deal with and a better seal

A little late to the table but… if you get to Trader Joe’s and like a semi sweet merlot… try Balatonboglari… it is Hungarian and I really enjoy it. It’s similar to Apothic and Menage a’ Trois… and is very reasonable.
