While all of you are getting ready to go fishing on this three day weekend, I will be home eating fish! Jeff Miller & Jack Rol (sons-in-law) & I wandered out to the Eden area to fish last weekend. It was windy (VERY) but warm, and the fish were biting. They were hitting jigs with 3″ GULP minnows like they were the real thing! Jack had a monster walleye (easily 8 lbs+) that we saw, but lost trying to net it. We caught about 50 eyes, kept our limit of 15″-20″ walleyes as the wind went 20+ mph. We shifted gears and switched lakes to find hammer handles & decent crappies interested in our jigs with GULP in the shallows. A small perch & nice smallie interrupted our quest for dinner. On Sunday, we switched lakes because the wind was already high. We found a small lake where the wind was more favorable, and a little slowed down by the series of small islands, and again found about 50 walleyes. In between them, I landed a 1 3/4 lb crappies & Jeff found a 15-16″ bullhead……still on the GULP. We packed up when the wind hit 30ish, and headed for home talking smart. I will return in about a month with my 95 year old mother & my daughter for our third ‘Walleye Quest & Casino Run’ in about a month! Good fishing until then! I will add pictures later if I can find them!
