Anyone make one with windblocker in it ? Basic carhartts get chilly when going across the lake on the wheeler. Wind whips right through them and freezes my ears. Thinking of christmas ideas. Thanks

Sitka, kuiu are my 2 go to winter caps. Best I’ve used for both warmth and wind proof. The sitka incinerator hat and or beanie are as good as it gets in nasty cold wind.

Windproof hats drive me nuts because you can’t hear anything with them on

For wheeler rides throw your hood up and some ski goggles over the top

The dad inside me wants to say put a helmet on

Put a helmet on. There’s nothing colder than riding a wheeler when it’s cold out.

Yes look for the downhill ski or snowboard beanie caps

Hood with a nice fur rough + ski goggles is hard to beat. Or an old pine marten hat.

Agree with the helmet too. Never wore a helmet skiing or snowboarding when I was a kid and don’t feel like I need one for safety now but they are hard to beat in terms of warmth and wind block.

Look in to that sitka hat or beanie. It’ll be the last one you buy. The kuiu one that wraps under the chin is bad to the bone as well

Arcteryx Toques/Tech Wool is far better than a Carhaart imo

I’ve never understood why people are so against wearing helmets on atv’s. For the price of one of those fancy hats you could get a cheap helmet that would keep you 10 times warmer. Most people would never hop on a snowmobile without a helmet, I just don’t get why it’s not the same with atv’s. It can’t hardly be to look cool if you have to bundle up in some huge hat that costs a ridiculous amount and put goggles on.

I’ve had two of those wind stopper hats. One was made by Gander Mountain, which is a beanie style and the other one was a Columbia that Cabela’s was selling out about 30 years ago. The Cabelas has real Gore-Tex in it and the Gander has the fake Gore Tex they sold. Both make your head sweat so bad it’s incredible. I only keep them because they’re warm and once in a while for snowblowing, but you almost have to take a shower or at least go wash your hair and head because you’re gonna be wet.

I’m going to 2nd the helmet. I rode wheelers without a helmet for a long time, then started snowmobiling and now I understand. Even if you don’t care about the “safety” factor, my helmet is warm, comfy, has audio, hell I’d actually just I’ve fish in it if it was windy enough to warrant that!
