Can anybody tell me at what temperature I should keep “willow cats” if I want to keep them for a few weeks ? Anything else I should know in order to keep them alive ? thanks
Not sure about a answer to temp 9n them. They live in lakes and rivers year round so handle a variety of temps. Guessing they hibernate at temps in the low 40s. Thats about the temp they start and stop showing up in the traps.
Yes. They take a little effort to find but think they are in a lot of bodies of water. Sometimes you can find them listed on the dnr lakefinder. They will be listed in species found in a lake. Find a lake that has them listed and good chance anything connected to it will have them to. Make or get traps ready to go now. Have had good trapping just a few weeks after ice goes out.
