Holy Cow, are my eyes getting that bad or is tying the willis knot with the gor-tex sheathing a pain in the rear? I can’t get it threaded and I’m headed out the door to walk the dog so I can try and calm down. Anyone have a trick they can share on how to get this done or is there another knot that will work for this set up.

Not a Willis knot but a small swivel can be realed through most leadcore reals. I use spro brand

I dulled a larger sized sewing needle so the point was more blunt…..,that threaded fine – pulling my leader material through. Then I misplaced the needle and ended up uni-2-uni knotting it.

Been some lengthy research from members here on topic and I know its highly recommended to run a swivel to your leader. Otherwise the sheathing will break down faster than normal.

If you are trying to connect backer that’s another thing.

So some sort of clamp or what holds your leadcore onto to the one side of the swivel?

I should have mentioned that I’m trying to attach the backing to the lead core. I used #10 mono for my backing.

Roadhunter, do I need a swivel when attaching the backing to the lead core? I used #10 mono for my backing. I understand I need one between my lead core and leader. Thanks.

I disagree. I’ve been using this line for years trolling superior without one issue.

Although, I always use at least one swivel near the bait. This you must do.

Thanks for all of the responses. If I’d taken some time and opened up the packaging I would have seen the 2 knots they recommend for tying on the backing and tying on a swivel.

I forgot to mention that when I had issues trying to tie 20lb+ mono to lead core I switched over to the Albright knot. Seems to work great.

This is by far my favorite line to line knot.
