Everyone was saying last winter how lucky we were to have a short, mild winter since all of the covid restrictions were still in place and literally everything was cancelled that winter. Can you imagine if we had a winter like this one then? Mental health would’ve in terrible shape. It would’ve been bad.

I’m just tired of being cold. And I remember last summer, with sun everyday and that got old too. But I’d take that over this. Right now we are all still stuck in limbo between seasons, not easily able or willing to go our outdoor hobbies.

Lakes are ice free in the cities but are very very low from the drought last year. Bring on the April showers!!!

I think this is hitting the psyche of all of us worse than blizzards and polar vortexes because we know it should be much nicer than this and we’re missing out on the roughly six months of the year that aren’t supposed to be “that cold.”

I’ve found myself these last few weeks, more than ever before, turning into a “doesn’t do any good to complain about the weather” guy because, as dumb as this sounds, the s&*tty weather isn’t going anywhere and it’s almost draining to think negatively about it.

I’m trying to approach it similar to watching my 401(k) tank in 2020….keep telling myself it’s not reality and things will get better toast

Coldest turkey season I can recall in Iowa. Nothing is green and tomorrow morning looks like a balmy 25 degrees.

When the weather guesser predicts 15 to 20 mph winds, you might just as well add the numbers together. 35 mph is more likely what you get. doah

You have to stay positive in life, otherwise you end up like half the guys here. I work out side all winter, it’s funny to listen to these guys complain while looking out the window. We are not to far from normal besides the new wind machine mother nature bought

Been on the water at least a couple days a week for the past month and have become used to the cold. The fish have been biting pretty good but the gusting winds have made boat control difficult and when that suffers so does the catching.

Saw a funny (obviously in error) tweet from this “bot” that is controlled by the NWS and sends out weather related information like precip totals, wind gusts, etc. They reported a wind gust in Mpls at 254MPH. LOL

Tonneau cover ripped off my truck driving north on I-29 in SD yesterday. Gonna go have a drink in my boat and talk about the good ol days with her. Was hoping to have several open water trips to ND by this point, now it looks like Ill be lucky if I can get out by MN opener. At least watersheds are being replenished

I hear ya, its the 109th day of January! but you know what we have short memories, plenty of bad springs and Aprils in the past. I get facebook reminder pics that tell the story, 2013? ice not out up here on Leech on the May opener! Average ice out up here is April 28th? no way this year, 2008 we got 48″ of snow in the month of April, anyway I hate it also want open water, too cold to even mess around in the garage getting ready. Wheres Al Gore and John Kerry? jester

I was up in Nevis and you guys are WAY behind the rest of the state. It was still January/February up there, and there was way less snow and ice north of Bemidji up to LOW, and back down thru Grand Rapids and 35 to the cities.

It’s 48 degrees and sunny here today with a 3mph wind on the shores of Pool 4. We are now only 10 degrees short of the average high for April 19th. It finally feels like Mid March!

My Tonneau cover got ripped up on 35 last week.
I’m driving 65mph and the wind ripped it off from behind.

I was on that last week for a couple days and it was nasty. I saw several semi-trucks blown over. I assume they were hauling empty loads and their trailers were just like a big sail.

Found this reminder from last summer while scrolling through my photos. There are plenty of days throughout the year that I am reminded why I still live in MN. Just haven’t experienced one of those in a while. jester

Ya right about now even 1 nice day would feel great. Going to try and get out on the open water for the 1st time tomorrow afternoon. The current forecast of near 50 with 10-15 MPH wind is really not to bad. Just hope the ice is totally off the lake we want to fish. As of last Sun. it still was not. Crossing my fingers it is by tomorrow
