So I assume while fishing this weekend, I missed some excitement here. Anyone care to share what happened to B-man and others. I know he was getting very active on the politics of the convoy. Do not want to get into anything so please, just asking for an update on what happened, I always enjoyed his posts. Mods just curious I know the rules but who decides when someone needs a time out and do they get a warning? To be clear I really like this forum and respect the need to keep it inline.

Wild Weekend?

February 28, 2022 at 10:22 am #2103740
I saw some threads get nuked that were getting pretty hot and then poof, threads gone and silence from a few accounts.
So yeah, I’m wondering the same thing as John.
Would be nice to hear the why and what for.
February 28, 2022 at 10:41 am #2103745The Wild gave up 7 goals in a blowout loss to Calgary Saturday. I’m not a big hockey guy, but thought the Wild would give them a better run this weekend.
…in other unrelated news it is strange to see the “Today’s Topics” thread links on the left of the screen without anything Covid, Ukraine, or Politically based.
February 28, 2022 at 10:41 am #2103747Talking about Ukraine or Russia gets you booted. I noticed lab daddy was booted after he posted about the importance of knowing what’s happening.
I have no real idea. But noticed they were all inactive after thatFebruary 28, 2022 at 10:52 am #2103750Thanks for the replies guys. Wish we could know more, mods care to chime in, maybe shoot one of us a PM. On a fishing related note, caught a bucket of crappies this weekend. Kinda slow actually but got it done from Friday late to Saturday night.
As for the guys that got nuked. Hope they are allowed back in after there time out. I really enjoyed some of there posts. Hope we can get back to fishing threads after the thaw. Tight Lines everyone!

I for one like looking at Todays Topics much more than before.
If you look hard enough B-Man is not to far away.February 28, 2022 at 11:01 am #2103756Explanation in order.
We’ve had a policy about political threads that has been enforced on and off over the years. Some get left up because it’s an important event or they don’t start out political but end up going down the hole. Personally I know when they are going to go South, but I give them a chance…then ALWAYS regret it.
Bickering, name calling, my President is better then your President. Just down right being rude to what should be fellow fisherman/hunters. Many times these threads are started by long time members that I consider friends. The emails, private messages and phone calls complaining about these threads was getting out of hand.
If you want to post or talk about all the above, there’s a host of social media groups and platforms made just for you. Please use them. This is a hunting and fishing website that I hope will bring information to people of the sport like it did to me and thousands of others whether they post here or just read.
I believe everyone that was blocked last Friday has been let back in. In the future, the door will be closed and “their content” will have to be found else where.
I do believe all but of few will be happy to have a fishing/hunting site back again.

BK, thanks for the explanation I and other appreciate it. Also agree with the statement above. It is a turbid times we are going through now and it seems hard for some here to keep it to fishing and hunting. The content and the people here is why I joined and why I stay. I do not use any other social media, so I did not mind having some current topics to discuss, however it was getting out of hand for some.

Thank you!
I prefer my time here to be a break from all that other stuff.
February 28, 2022 at 11:30 am #2103761Thanks BK. I happen to like your policy of letting current events be discussed for a short time and members being able to vent. Once in a while. I think its healthy and makes this a better place. General forums are known to cover anything/everything.
basseyesPosts: 2511February 28, 2022 at 11:36 am #2103762Some posts/threads remind me of a scene from Kevin Costner’s disaster Waterworld. There’s an old guy on a ship after the civilized world ends. He is in the bottom of a fuel or oil holding tank on the rusty, dirty, old ship and is stuck in there. His job is to keep tabs on the level of the tank. It’s dark and dirty. Finally someone drops a match in the tank and he gets blown up. Before he does with a thankful heart he just says, thank God. As sadistically entertaining as political threads can be, they never end well.

No reason for this site not to be just that. I’ve always said, can you imagine the comments section of CNN or Fox being filled with people talking about ice conditions or new panfish regs? Like you said, plenty of places to go talk current events, politics, and bicker. Might as well have the good folks on this site just stick to the outdoors.
February 28, 2022 at 11:49 am #2103765Hopefully more of you guys will post outdoor related stuff. Seems like it’s lacking in that. There are only a few of us that post fishing reports and such. Would be nice to see that again. Back to the reasons I joined in the first place
February 28, 2022 at 12:06 pm #2103776Blows my mind some people literally call a moderator to complain about a thread. Sheesh
February 28, 2022 at 12:08 pm #2103778looks like I missed the fun. Got back from last weekend of chasing pike to find several post and members dusted. Was looking forward to catching up. I for one don’t have a problem with most of the political post as long as people stay civil. I just feel there is far more going on in the world that fishing and hunting ( Even though I wish there was not ) unless people talk about issues and start to do something about them, they are not going to get any better. I also like and do a fair amount of posting on non political topics as well. I just don’t understand why people who are not interested in some topics, can not just pass over them and move on to the next hunting and fishing related topic. It seems often the people who complain about some post, are then the ones who then reply. Its like they can’t just control not responding, so they prefer that the post just not be allowed. I’ll play by what ever rules the owner of the sight wants. I just don’t see how more traffic is a bad thing.

B-manPosts: 5805February 28, 2022 at 1:09 pm #2103810Hey guys I just found out all is well by reading this thread.
I too was surprised since nothing was escalated beyond what it ever had been, and found myself in the dust pan without a heads up at all. In the meantime this guy named C-man showed up impersonating me
I see he’s since been nuked and I’ve been reinstated Thank you Jon and Brian

I’m a psycho sportsman but do agree with this comment. There is so much crap going on in the world and I feel a breath of fresh air seeing how fellow sportsman who are “real people” with rapport see things. Not just some kid in his mom’s basement, or a complete troll spouting off a mouthful of garbage. Seeing the world from another person’s true perspective is something I always enjoy, whether it’s online or in person, or if I agree with them or not.
That said I’ll happily play by the rules and hope this site continues on for decades. Perhaps a sub-forum for world-occurrences could be added? As mentioned, traffic on a forum is always a good thing.
Anyway, I’m glad to be back and we had a great weekend on the ice with family and friends playing musical shacks. I had four 7-year-olds and a 14-year-old in my shack at one point, including a buddy’s kid with Spina Bifida who was kicking butt.
The fish cooperated, with the kids catching over 45 crappies and over 100 perch in my shack alone lol (many were released)
We were fishing a lake known for eater crappies, and it was a huge surprise when Hank landed and released his biggest crappie ever (13″)
To top off a great weekend one of my buddy’s and his kid stopped for breakfast with us on our way home. The kids threw $40 into the machine for us and pulled $104 back out

This is a good idea. Glad your back B-man, would have missed you and the picks of your boys, they crack me up.

Ditto on hanging in the backwaters. I check in on this site everyday. Have for years, but only recently signed up. Even at my age I’m still trying to fully learn the lesson that once something comes out of your mouth, you can’t put it back in. So, I’ve refrained from signing up and performed my role of casual observer. I did buy an IDO hat, tho.
That said, if all of the political crap is getting cut…that leaves plenty of time for one of you to come see and buy my Custom 7×14 wheelhouse, camper, toy hauler…as listed in the classifieds. (Too soon?)

As buddy likes to say ” You can’t unring a bell “
February 28, 2022 at 5:31 pm #2103936Hey epg you survived the weekend
I’m embarrassed to say I underperformed
