I believe 11 of their remaining games are against teams not currently in the playoffs. A lot of these games are also against the Eastern Conf. Wild are a little behind in wins so there’s some catch up needed there.

Hey everyone! I’ve been away from the site for quite some time. A lot has changed with the team. These last 18 or so games should be exciting.
In one of my posts a month or so ago I talked about liking Coyle and hoped he’d improve and that appears to be happening.
Since my dad’s passing I’ve been pretty busy dealing with his house and stuff and haven’t seen many games. Do they have a shot at the playoffs? Sure would be fun to see them in the postseason.
Nice to be back!
March 3, 2016 at 6:40 pm #1604141Sorry to hear that belletaine.
Wild should score 5+ tonight. They picked apart the Avs defence. Well I he leafs defense is very young and inexperienced.
March 3, 2016 at 6:52 pm #1604144Not to sound like a broken record, but if they start Haula’s line the Leafs don’t stand a chance
March 4, 2016 at 6:07 am #1604205I was a bit off. I’ve actually watched a couple leafs games and considering what they are throwing out there, they sure are competitive. That’s the thing, we may have a “easy” schedule, but even the cellar dwellars have guys now playing for a permanent roster spot and trying to make an impression heading into the off season and next year.
March 10, 2016 at 5:50 pm #1605748Haula’s line has Fontaine instead of Polmenville. I feel 2 goals coming tonight for that line!!
Brady ValbergPosts: 326March 10, 2016 at 8:25 pm #1605786Ugly, terrible hockey. I have no idea how this game is tied. Powerplay still sucks, puck control is non existant. Very disappointing, but I’ll keep watching and hoping.

March 11, 2016 at 7:11 am #1605847Quick summary of MN sports teams in their most recent seasons:
Twins: Basement expectations, squeezed out an OK season.
Vikings: Moderate expectations, most would agree they exceeded and continue to get better this offseason.
Gopher Football: Played below my expectations personally, but had a very tough schedule and a season full of distractions and injuries.
Wolves: I actually have no idea.
Lynx: Still don’t know much about them but I try and follow them and watch their playoff games because they’re doing enough right to bring trophies to MN.
What am I getting at? The Wild have got to be the single most frustrating team in MN sports this year considering current roster and expectations versus actual performance.
March 11, 2016 at 7:49 am #1605866Frustration…that’s putting it mildly. As you guys have seen, I have had meltdowns over them. Its inexplicable. This team has not earned the right to go cowboy during any game. If the coach tells you to dump, chase and forecheck, do it. I actually may end up feeling very bad for Torch.
March 11, 2016 at 7:54 am #1605870You can add Fletcher to the list of people you can feel sorry for. They miss the play-offs and the broom will hit him also.
March 11, 2016 at 8:18 am #1605876They miss the playoffs I might be happy we completely reshuffling the cards as much as you can. No one is safe.
March 11, 2016 at 8:38 am #1605882I do like that in the post game Torch publicly said guys who aren’t will to dump, chase, hit and stick to the game plan WILL SIT!

I was very happy to see that also and I hope he does it. These spoiled brats better get their poop in a group real quick.
March 11, 2016 at 10:16 am #1605900KFAN made the comment this morning that it looks like the Wild are playing like they want to get another coach fired. Obviously that’s tongue in cheek but I thought it was hilarious.

When they fired the old coach I heard an interesting comment from some announcers on tv, they said ( will we will see if the failure of the team is on the coaches side or the players side. They would know by the end of the season.) I just thought that was interesting the annoucers where more on the side of the old coach than the players.
Go Black Hawks!!!
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22244March 11, 2016 at 3:14 pm #1605958I have said this from the beginning, its on the players, not the coach. I was optimistic that firing Yeo would light a spark and for some instances they had improved a bit, but a very small sample size and surely not consistent enough to say it was anything that Yeo did which led to the issues.
Now, you have a new coach calling out the team for not doing their job AGAIN! I love it. Torch reminds me a bit of Zimmer. No nonsense kind of guy. Tell it like it is and so far he sticks to his word. Dumba made a stupid mistake and was removed from the PP the rest of the game the other night.
I have no doubt that he means it when he says you don’t stick to the gameplan you are sitting. Trouble is, does this start for next game or do they have to perform poorly AGAIN for it to happen.
Shroeder called up so that is a sign that something might be brewing.
They had a good old fashioned bag skate today too. Common Man was broadcasting from the X when it was going on and Mileski compared it to when Brooks skated the 80 Olympic team following that tie to Norway in a scrimmage. “AGAIN”!
Better get thicker skin boys, its obvious this is on the players vs the coach.
The number of turnovers last night was ridiculous.
From now on, no more wearing the red jerseys at home, better yet, move all the games to road games. They seem to perform a tiny bit better away from the X.March 15, 2016 at 10:11 am #1606844Back at it.
Statistically speaking, the Wild should be shoe-ins. Looking at the playoff and non-playoff teams going several seasons back, teams with a + goal differential have made the playoffs while – point differential teams have not. Currently the Wild are +10 and the Avs -10. The last team I believe that was able to buck this stat was…the Minnesota Wild! -5 got them in while Columbus’ +1 had them on the outside looking in. I believe that year it came down to the final game and the Wild beating the Avs. I watched it on my sturgeon trip with my nephew and Mr Jeff Huberty.
March 15, 2016 at 3:08 pm #1606945I hate stat nerds. + or – , goals for or against it’s all crapola. Just win out and they are in.
March 15, 2016 at 4:18 pm #1606975LOL thats a easy one. All these sabre guys are boring me to death. They have a stat for just about everything these days. While stats have a place I just don’t think they are a end all for constructing a team. Joe Mauer has a high on base hitting third but can’t drive in a run to save his life. Whats his true value?
I know you are just baiting me with the question so I’ll just leave it at that.
March 15, 2016 at 8:41 pm #1607050OK Wild just went up 2-1, that pass from Coyle to Granlund, resulting in Carter’s goal, was awesome. But that’s not my point yet…
Is it “Jock Jams” night in Ottawa or something? This period alone I’ve heard a few songs played in the arena that I swear I recognize from my late-90’s Jock Jams cassette. Kind of random but just wondering if anyone else was noticing this.
March 15, 2016 at 9:18 pm #1607063I didn’t notice. I did notice all the Wild defenders on one side of the ice on that last goal.
