Totally agree, don’t touch, breathe on, or even look at the Haula/Pominville line. Just leave it alone and back away.

They look hung over. I think the phrase that sums up the offensive rush is “here, you take it”. Nobody want s the puck and nobody is forechecking after that the first period.

The isles defended them very well and the Wild didn’t really adjust.

The Wild love skating over the blueline and either dropping it to another player or circling back looking for trailing support entering the zone. The isle wingers back checked well and were on them every time they did this.

The isles also blocked a lot of shots. The Wild did not adjust well.

They did appear to make an adjustment, but weren’t executing. They did execute it on the goal though. They distributed the puck from the one side to the other and got the shot off quickly.

Every loss is going to suck though, because it will be a missed opportunity. We have 2 games left against the Avs I believe. It’d be nice to be a head of them before our first meeting with a chance to put them away.

Well, they certainly aren’t going to win every game, but that certainly looked eerily similar to the team who lost 13 of 14.
They did get some chances, the Isles defended well and stood tall shorthanded. PP they excelled, that is what killed us.
The key will be how they respond.

lots of old bad habits creeped into their game last night, but the Islanders are a good team and they blocked a crap ton of shots. It was encouraging to see the Wild absolutely pour it on in spots late in the 2nd and at times in the 3rd periods, so you know that game is still in them, Torch just needs to figure out how to make them play that way all the time…

Torch really needs to sit Duby down and tell him to no longer play the puck behind the net, he’s just terrible at it…but Goalies are crazy people, who don’t take criticism very well…

What can you say? The Islanders are a good team and the puck luck went their way as well last night. Not a great night for the Wild, but not the worst they’ve played either.

The Islanders blocked a ton of shots as has been said. The Wild could have responded to that a little better, I think, by telling Dumba to let ‘er rip at every chance. You wanna block shots? OK. We’ll give you shots to block. A couple of real cup crackers can do wonders to cool the desire to shot-block…

I have to laugh re the comments about Dubnyk. On one hand, I kind of agree. But then again, he was quick as a cat on charging out and poke checking to deny a breakaway that would have basically sealed the win. IMO now’s not the time to get in Dub’s head and get him thinking, “Should I or shouldn’t I…”

There were just some cornball things last night like that first goal that I wouldn’t try to hard to over-correct for.

Wow. The Wild almost had at least one point there, except that Coyle was denied by Neuvirth on the grandest or larcenies. Disappointing to be so close, but we still have a few games in hand on the Avalanche with a few games still left to play against them. Hopefully they are the team we can catch to make the playoffs.

Please trade Ryan Sutter before the deadline. He does not play tough at all!!! There is no way this team will go past the first round if they make the playoffs.

The Philly goalie made 2-3 saves that were just unreal and 99% of the time are sure thing goals, so I wouldn’t beat on the Wild too much after this loss… some lazy play in front of the net led to 2 Philly goals that shouldn’t happen, hopefully Torch gets that ironed out..

That loss certainly wasn’t for lack of effort on the offensive side (D zone another story) or chances.
IDK, that Coyle “non-goal” sure looked as if it crossed the line to me and Granlund was completely robbed by that defenseman in front of the net. Otherwise that was a sure thing goal too. I wish he had shot it quickly, but he sized it up and made the right shot only to get robbed.
Big test tonight. Capitals haven’t lost much and they lost their last home game so I don’t like our chances. All of that ground we made up on the Avs and Preds is now GONE. Win tonight will really make a difference, but I don’t see it happening.

Doesn’t help that, I believe, the Caps lost to the Leafs the last game at home?

The need for urgency means you don’t lose to a team at home, you don’t lose because a goalie is seemingly hot and you don’t make it come down to the final few seconds.

    This team is a mess.

Don’t worry, curse of the pug means that when I go negative, they usually turn things around.

Wild got hosed by the refs and the NHL mothership, not by Neuvirth. If this replay system is going to be credible, they need to get some camera upgrades in place rathern than the 1986 Betamax cams they had in the goals last night. There’s no way that they should NOT have been able to determine if that puck crossed the line, the cams pics are just complete sh!t.

The Wild played a decent game with no Parise or Zucker. Vanek stepped up, Haula was great again, the guys are doing the right things. Yes, the Flyers goalie was very good last night and at least from what I’ve seen, Hackstol has that team playing pretty well.

It’s a raw deal, but the reality is that there are just a lot of good teams in the league right now and the Wild now have to go in and play the BEST team in the league. Not an ideal time to be struggling with injuries, have to make a coaching change, etc, but then again it never is.

Overall, even though they are NOT winning, I feel like the Wild are at least playing like they want it and I like the spark from some players who were just dead in the water 2 weeks ago.

I agree. The fate of Coyle’s goal (or almost goal…) was sealed when the ref waved his arms ‘no goal’. The only way that the review could have over-turned his call would have been with video evidence of the puck ENTIRELY crossing the line. There was no such video evidence to over turn it. (Even though at some point in time I think it did cross the line there was no evidence to over-turn the ref’s original call. It’s too bad…)

Lots of band wagon on here today, let me remind you guys this isn’t the vikings. Jeepers, the effort is there, they just aren’t getting the brakes.

They came out flying again tonight. Torch isn’t going to create miracles. He has this team playing much better. BUT don’t think they are going to win the cup.

I am just happy Yeo is gone and they are playing much much better.

Chris Porter got put on waivers, per the Wild site. Must mean Parise is healthy and ready to play. The good news here is that the Wild are playing some cellar dwellers coming up, plus s big matchup with the Avs.

Apparently in case Fletch can make a trade per Russo. By all means, trade some of those draft picks we are overflowing with now.

Negative or realist? I think this team has serious mental issues. 3 years of playing very well with 1 major, near season ending, slump. Each year the adversity was different and they did not react well. I think the core of this team needs to be changed, but with the contracts and what not, it’s impossible.

At this point I wish we could sell all the vets and let the youngsters grow and go from there.
