Here is what the WI DNR has for a chart showing harvest numbers from opening weekend. It appears to be on average down from last year, but my results were very similar to last year and I couldn’t complain with the numbers I saw.

Our efforts in not shooting any does locally to our farm has really paid off now. A few neighbors are still shooting them, but we finally had a year that we saw at least a couple deer every day. For opening weekend, I saw more bucks than does 
In looking at the numbers the total doe harvest really is way down this year, and I think that’s mostly due to the elimination of free and $2 herd control tags. I really agree with the way the tags were this year where you got one of each unless in the northern zone. I think this year was the DNR’s learning year, they had the tags set in a way that they really could pinpoint where the most deer are taken and learn the population better, so I’m all for keeping the tag situation the same for awhile.
