During the close today James indicted a lot of content coming to You Tube this summer. Maybe it also will be posted here? I dunno.

Lots more to come guys! I’m a bit of a analytics nut and overall TV viewership of fishing shows goes way down during the summer.
In a nutshell people seem to be a lot less interested in sitting in front of their TV in the summer and a lot more invested in actually getting out on the water themselves.
You can expect very regular videos that will not air on TV that will be added to our YouTube channel throughout the summer. We’re betting that people will still take time to watch shorter YouTube videos when they’re able to sneak a few free minutes in at work, over their lunch break, of course!
And those videos will of course be announced here as well.

Not a criticism at all, so please don’t take it that way. Just curious. If viewership drops significantly during the summer, and that is due to people actually getting out fishing themselves, then wouldn’t that suggest that more non-ice fisherman are watching the show than ice fisherman? Otherwise they would be out fishing and not watching your show during the winter. If the above is true, I would think you would want to have more open water shows than ice fishing shows to maximize your viewership. I love your show, but do not ice fish. So I really look forward to the open water episodes and rarely watch a full ice episode.
Again, not a criticism. You guys have a great show. I am sure many ice fisherman are grateful you dedicate so many episodes to it.
Thanks

I would never take somebody wanting to see more of our shows as a criticism.
With regards to viewership stats I wasn’t talking specifically about our show. Viewership stats are much higher in quarter 1 and quarter 2 and drop in Q3 for all shows in the outdoors block. People feel they have better things to do in the summer than sit inside and watch TV. But that won’t matter with regards to our content cuz we’re going to continue to put out short form videos throughout the summer.
I would think what James is saying is true. I know for myself… I watch the most fishing shows in late winter and early spring – when I am dreaming about getting back outside more and on the water again. Once summer hits, I do not watch nearly as much fishing shows because I am up at the cabin 80% of the time. If I happen to be home for a summer weekend, I may turn on a show Sat or Sun morning. I suppose if I had cable TV up at the cabin….. that may change and I may watch a little in the morning before heading out or something.

So glad I’m just another statistic… But the stats don’t lie.
Never thought about it too much, but I always watched more weekend outdoors television during the winter…particularly after January 1st. Maybe it’s because it’s cold out and I never needed to rush out the door. Come warm weather, I’m off doing something.
And I probably ice fish as much or more as I open water fish, just not every weekend.
Great season again James and crew. I totally understand people getting out on the water in the summer. I love the show and have learned lots of new tactics from watching. To the cast and crew enjoy your well deserved rest. I’ll personally be looking forward to my trips up to voyageurs national park this summer. Only a couple weeks away for the first one.
I would also think doing a weekly show during the current Winter/Spring is quite taxing on the crew from James all the way to the guys doing the editing. I’ve noticed many shows seem to be filmed the previous fishing season and have all Summer/Winter to film and edit. I love that IDO always airs during the current season. But I bet you guys run your butts off to get it done.
Get your rest and enjoy some fun fishing guys, you earn it every year!
