I joined because I had been creeping and stealing Pool 2 reports and info. I figured I’d join and add any info/help where I could which is very limited. I like how everybody is willing to share info.
Good site & good people
I found a site called Fishtheriver.com while in college in 2001. It was a great way to keep up with fishing reports from Pool 4 while I was 4+ hours away in central IA. It’s always been a great site with quality info and not a ton of bickering.

I joined as a member of IDO Hunting back in May 2008 when the hunting site and fishing site were separate. It was at the recommendation of my Dad, Steve Root, since I had just started deer hunting with Billy the season before. I come from a fishing family, but had never been deer hunting before I met Billy and 2007 was my first year. I really enjoy reading and writing, so we figured this site would be a great way to learn more and share… and what an amazing 12 years it’s been!
I’m lucky to have met some great guys on this site and have developed some wonderful friendships. There’s nothing like spending an evening sharing hunting and fishing stories, beer, and pizza – right @pailofperch! 
It’s not something I can do with the few women that I know – they simply don’t share the interests. (And they don’t like to share terrible jokes).
I look forward to meeting more of you and swapping more stories! Hopefully once ‘the thing that shall not be named’ settles down we can get people together for another unofficial IDO Gathering.
