Why did I wait so long for a new flip over?

I was going to reconfigure some poles and have a new canvas made for a larger fishing area and to get rid of that God forsaken steep slanted front of my old flip. Well, after getting a quote for canvas that far exceeded the cost of new, i sold the old and splurged. Fully insulated and a huge fishing area. Always hated the idea of using such little ice rods. I hate those stubby rods where you need to hunch over a hole. I refused to use them, so I haven’t used the flip over for nearly 10 years. Was just a glorified sled.

So, finally a flip that has a straight front and I can comfortably use my 41 to 48″ crappie noodles, walleye rods, and my laker rods.

I’m sure the 50# weight gain will suck for mobility, but nice to have some room without going to a hub.

Here is a 48-1/2″ modulous carbon walleye rod in the pic. Now, just need to find a kid to pull it for.me

    Hey Randy
So which Frabill model did you settle on?
Looks like a roomy flip over

Who’s John Gillespie?? Never heard of him

Frabill Citadel 3255. 98.5″L x 71″W x 75.5″H I had my mind set on an Otter. Better sled and a few other details that I liked more. Because i waited too long into the season, most models were sold out around here. A buddy suggested I looked at this Citedal model because I like using the longer rods and this one offered all the room I wanted. I’ve had a sketch of how I was going to revamp my Trap flip over and this Frabill model was VERY close to what I wanted from 10 years ago.

I pulled this thing across grass in my yard were the snow melted. Now I’m having buyer’s remorse on the added weight. Holy CRAP does this thing pull hard

Is it just me or does Gillespie steal folks fish on his show and hold them up, even before they can hold their catch!?

    I love it haha

That is nice! The only thing I don’t like about my flip over is the door in the front.

You’ll have to give an after-season review. My Trekker DLX is getting worn and I’ve been eyeing these up. In the last few years, it really seems like Frabill is losing steam in the portable market, which is unfortunate. You are not seeing them very often on sales floors…Seems to be over-run by Clam and Otter. In the few new ones I’ve sat in, the quality still seems to be there between Clam and Otter, which is nice.

I love the flat front for the same reason you already stated. Plus the side doors might actually encourage me to use the door instead of flipping it up every time I want to exit the house.

We’ve been fishing out of the Bro series side-step. The side doors are awesome! Just wish the windows were a little higher and more forward.
