Not to mention you pretty much need a separate hole for the transducer and pole mount if you are using it to fish. Waiting for the prices to drop and the tech to evolve (shrink in size) a bit.
most people do this already so this is not a big deal.

Because they are old tech. No mapping and no live sonar. Vex is the king of the flasher brands but I wonder how long they can hold on when that is all they produce. If ffs isn’t banned (which I don’t think it will be anytime soon) I just don’t see any company only producing flashers lasting another decade.
These prices really make you realize the mark up they enjoyed from the strong brand name and reputation for so many years.

Some people do it. Saying most do it is quite a stretch.

Everyone I fish with has done it for years with our LX units. Every single person I have seen using a FFS has done it. Watch any fishing show and almost every single time when they are in a house they have a dedicated hole, if they are outside they will often use the same hole however. It just makes sense to have a dedicated hole because you dont have to deal with that dang pole when fighting a big fish.

Poor old Vexilar, they’ve been going out of business for 50 years. Don’t leave home without em!

My old man has a older fl18, a Marcum lx5, and a marcum camera. I swear that guy hardly ever brings one with and if he does it’s for water depth. And then he will out fish every one around with no graph and his old ass 2 pegged jigging stick with no reel.

Funny how the ole boys seemed to catch fish. For years my Dad fished crappies with black dacron line in about 20# or so on the jiggle sticks. He didn’t want to lose a jig to a northern. No electronics and always seemed to catch fish.
Tech, changes and its hard to quickly change with it. Remember Kodak? They were huge, killed by digital, they sold film, chemicals, photo paper, slides, etc.
Funny thing is they invented digital photography and they could not even keep up with the tech they invented!
