Who’s making these rods?

I found these pictures on the internet where someone posted them as a reference. I asked in the thread who the builder was and have yet to receive a response. Does anyone here know who’s making these rods? I’m asking because the only addiction I have is buy fishing rods and I’ve never seen a wrap like these on an ice rod before. Any help will be appreciated!

No 100%, but I would say 90% Chris Stanton made those rods.

They look pretty, but isn’t that just added weight?

Chris Stanton is correct. Makes a lot of cool designs and handles

I’m no expert when it comes to making fishing rods but I have tried. I would think that the added finish needed to cover the wrap might add some weight but nothing significant. I mainly use 26” rods with 3” grips and would guess that the added weight from the decorative wrap is nothing compared to the added blank weight you would get from a 28” or longer rod or having a locking reel seat. I do have a couple of open water rods that have wraps similar to this and the added weight on those are minimal and hard to notice. I was only asking who makes these because I have never seen wraps like these on ice rods before and the reason for that is because they are very hard to do on ice rod blanks.

Not sure who those belong to specifically but I know a guy who can build anything you can dream up. Fancy wraps like that and even custom inlays, even builds his own carbon grips.

It doesn’t add as much weight as you think. A few more yards of thread and a few more drops of epoxy add an almost unmeasurable amount of weight.

More guys out there that can do this than you can imagine. Back when I got started on building my own in the early 80’s, this was the crave. Everyone did an inlay of their name or other psychedelic designs. That trend has phased out for many years. I think the guys that just build rods for the satisfaction of it still do a lot of this. Keeps ya from getting bored. Its an art and I respect the time it takes to do some of the very detailed work
