Anybody know why whenever I post a pic it is sideways? I don’t know how to change that on my phone.

Hold your phone horizontal when you take a pic. That is usually the fix.

Ended up with 32 pints of salsa yesterday. Took all day, 9am-7:30pm. What takes so long and sucks the most is blanching, peeling, and diceing tomatoes. Thank goodness for the wife doing all the dishes. I hate the clean up. I’m almost done with about 16 quarts of pickles today. Then I’m going to mow lawn, then brink a beer and relax. I will take a pic and post later.

been making dill pickles for over 2 weeks now 6 quarts at a time. The FW made her first 12 pints of salsa yesterday. Today is v8 style juice and veggie soup with whatever I can find in the garden thrown in. Am into the 3rd week of curing 25 lbs of sauerkraut. Sure is a busy time of year but the sense of accomplishment is well worth it, not to mention the good food come winter.

We’re in the tomato sauce stage right now. No idea how much I’ve got but plenty. Plus the neighbors have been given tomatoes, the kid’s have gotten tomatoes and I still have plenty for slicing.

The cukes are slowing up now, but my “bush” squash are literally up in the bushes with several squash hanging up there. I have squash runner about 40 feet long now, all from my “bush type” seeds. lol I get a kick out of it but Ma isn’t finding it too funny seeing five pound fruits laying on her flowers.

I planted some cabbage seed this year and will end up with five really nice heads. I had to thin the things out a while ago so I’d get some decent heads. I’ve never been able to get heads to develop from seed cabbage.

My carrots are going gang busters so I went thru the two rows and plucked sone 6″-8″ carrots which are on out dinner menu tonight.

Over all I’d call this a pretty darned good year and is certainly welcomed after a couple of dud years a while back.

Here’s this weekends fruit of my labor. Pulled all my carrots on Wednesday, and blanched, vacuumed sealed, and froze them. I will probbably do one more run of pickles, and some freezer corn. Then some squash later.

The carrots I don’t use while its warm will stay in the ground until its almost frozen. I cover them with grass clippings I bag up in the fall….up to two feet of them. Carrots will sweeten up big time with some cold on them while they’re still in the ground. No hurry on those for me. The last two years I didn’t dig them until Christmas time.
