Did some research is this correct? All Mercury motors under 30 hp are Tohatsu made they also make Nissan motors as well? Looking the motor over it really looks like a 25 Yamaha as well not sure on that but I had a Tohatsu and it was a great motor.

FYI- just because a motor is built BY company x, doesn’t mean it’s the same as another branded motor built by company X. Each company has their proprietary specifications that the motor or components are built to. Can be very similar yet very different.

I had a 2015 Nissan 15hp and it was a Tohatsu with different decals. At that time, they also made all motors 30hp and lower for Mercury. I know Merc has different handles/shifter mechanisms on some of the new models when compared to Tohatsu. Tohatsu is less known in some areas, but I couldn’t find anyone with bad things to say when I researched buying Merc/Tohatsu/Nissan. If the Merc on your new Lund is essentially a Tohatsu, I would consider that a good thing and not think twice about it.

The guys in the recieving whse at Brunswick in New York Mills, Mn (Lund and Crestliner Factory) told me all 60 hp and lower outboards are made in China. I don’t know who the manufacturer is. I looked at all the crates of motors and it does say Made in China.
