I have not been on here lately but have been thinking about my IDO brothers and sisters and how much everyone loves ICE! So I figured you all would appreciate a little video I had put together this season for the diehards looking forward to FIRST ICE!!!

I know I am! Typically this time of year I’m focused on some late season open water, but I’ve been without a boat now the the past 6 weeks until next spring, ice is all I have to look forward to now. I’ve actually had IDO ice fishing episodes playing in the background all morning while I get some work done.

With yesterday’s heat I was looking forward to some ice but the trays were empty….Ma beat me to them. Its cooled off now but I am still looking forward to some ice along about next May when it gets warm enough to need to keep my pop cold. I like the deer openers of the last few years where a heavy t-shirt was needed to stay warm and hopefully that’s all that will be needed to stay warm for this fall’s opener of the muzzleloader season. Ice sucks outside of a cup.

3 cube’s in my Irish. But wouldn’t mind if the ice got thick enough to jig Lakers by Duluth again. That’s a hoot! DK.

Or dumb enough. What with our climate change of late ice is not what it once was.

Besides, there’s plenty of places to be instead of atop of a drowning machine: like in the woods during the late muzzy season or chasing late season grouse or spending time at the gun club keeping the toys tuned. Or one of my favorites…..watching McCarthy and Rogers standing on the sidelines with looks of indignation while the other team turns their SB hopes to smoke [think last night].

I love threads like this. They always bring out the guys that can’t handle the cold or the hard work that ice fishing can be. I am pumped for fall on pool 4 and rainy in the coming weeks. I start gearing up around turkey day myself but never too early!

Climate change is not a political opinion. It’s scientific fact. If you don’t agree, it’s not that your political opinion is wrong, it’s because you don’t understand basic science. Politicians don’t control the weather lol.

Clearly, I’m ready for ice season to start!

Not me. I look forward to the best open water fishing of the year that starts at the end of September.

I also do not look forward to the piles of garbage left behind that is sadly associated with ice fishing.

I would be cool with that. In a perfect world I’d see spring, summer, extended fall, spring, etc.

I am looking forward to some pool 4 november/december/january fishing. This year I might do a weekend on red in a sleeper shack with my uncle but that’s about all the ice fishing I can take.
