My 2008 Terrova fried and Scheels is telling me it is going to be around $600-$800 to repair. Unfortunately everywhere I look they are backordered. I’m looking for a 24 volt, 80lb, 60″, i-pilot. I don’t even care if it has built in sonar because in all the years I had the last one I never used it once. I don’t think I even need the foot pedal because I think my old one will still work with the new ones…not to mention I almost never used that either. Anyone know of a place that has them in stock?

I assumed you tried all the big boys……..

    Reeds
    Thorne Brothers
    Joe’s
    Cabela’s
    Bass Pro

If that failed try The Boat Center and see if they have a take-off they would sell.

That is why I asked…didn’t think of TB. They seem to have them in stock. Whish they had one without sonar. Really don’t need it and would rather not pay for it.

    Thanks Duchboy!

Not sure where you are from but, St. Cloud, Fargo, and Grand Forks all have them in stock as well, according to their website. I know that the Scheels that I am closest to offers to have things transferred in from other stores for me often. I never do it, and that is a long story for another time, but you scheels store should be able to get a new one for you in a week or so.

I also do not think they make one without sonar built in. The lowest price option is with US2 sonar.

Scheels in Eden Prairie told me they can’t get one now.

According to Minn Kota site they have them without universal sonar. Goes for just under $1,500.

I should also add that I probably shouldn’t believe anything anyone in that store tells me. I won’t go into it, but it stems from the way they handled the repair…or attempted repair of my unit.

Pro Fishing Supply in Waconia has it listed for $1399, free shipping. I don’t know if it’s in stock, give them a call. I’ve bought a couple of Birds, onboard charger, alternator charger and a Terrova from them. Very happy with them.

What exactly fried? I have fried a circuit board or two. Part is less than 200$ less than an hour job for most shops. Did one myself after seeing my shop do it in the parking lot in about 40 minutes.
Not much to those things really.

They told me the motor fried. That caused a surge and fried the main circuit board and the steering mechanism. They also said that parts are really hard to get because Minn Kota doesn’t support them after 10 years.

Just did one last year to 2009. I have also changed a steering box in a friends. I have also replaced heading sensors in several friends also. Only thing I have not done before is the gear box basically lower unit of a TM. Maybe the whole thing is fried don’t know. I would call fish electronics and see if that is the case. Or buy a new one like you were going to do I guess. I didn’t know scheels did trolling motor repairs.

I had one do a similar thing. Steering motor failed and fried the mother board. It was the gen 2 version of the terrova that had spot wander instead of spot lock, so I was happy to replace it. Sold it to a guy for 500 bucks that was going to fix it as he never used spot lock.

FWIW, my 2018 was in the shop this past spring and needed basically everything…poor thing. Lol. Lower casing was cracked, leaking and seized, brand new last year steering box was broke AGAIN (my own stupidity) and I somewhat botched my first attempt at replacement of the lift assist and collar (before finding the tool) leading to another new set of those items. So, basically a new motor now. Rather fortunately, my warranty period was still valid because the total damages from the shop were north of $800.

For a 2008 just breaking now, $600-$800 doesn’t sound too bad compared to what they get for a new one. That doesn’t necessarily help though if you need it in short order…

Call Fish Lectronics. Their repairs are very reasonable. They also carry new and factory reconditioned units if you need to get a new one. I got great pricing on my last two trolling motors I purchased from them.

Scheels in Eden Prairie is an authorized Minn Kota repair shop and the closet one to me. If I ever need any Minn Kota repair work done they will not be my choice. The left hand doesn’t seem to know what the right hand is doing there. They also don’t seem to be too knowledgeable about trolling motors. Just a fair warning.

As far as finding Minn Kotas most places are out of everything…there were a couple places that had something in stock but not what I am looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion. Pro Fishing Supply seems to be the best place. He was very knowledgeable and was helpful. Most places were not interested in selling anything they don’t order on a regular basis. Many didn’t even know you could get a Terrova without sonar, and certainly not interested in ordering one in for me.
    Profishingsupply.com it is.

Thanks. They have the 1358814 (no sonar and no foot pedal) listed. The site says backordered until June 2020. Sent them an email to see what the status is. We’ll see what they say.

I don’t think your 2008 footpedal or remote will work with the current (2017-present) models with bluetooth. I think your options are to buy a used pre-bluetooth model or keep on your search for a new model without sonar.
