Curious what the negatives are? I would think the guarantee of not sinking if going through the ice would be a gamechanger, yet I don’t see alot of them on the ice… I’ve heard the ride is terribly bumpy due to not having any suspension other than low tire pressure? I wouldn’t think travel speed is that big of an issue, but maybe it is? Over the years I’ve used both a sled and atv and I never really traveled very fast on the ice for risk of just doing damage to gear stored inside a towed tub vs getting to a place a little bit quicker (and colder)

Tracks and enclosed cabs can solve the deep snow and cold ride excuses and they seem to be very reasonably priced vs a SxS…

for those that do use an Argo or 6×6, can you post a picture of your setup?

Poor ground clearance with wheels, can be very temperamental and break down a lot. Towed one off lake Winnipeg last year.

My question is if you do fall through the ice how do they get themselves out? The wheels are underwater when they float so how do they crawl over the ice back on top?

Videos i’ve seen they winch themselves out, sometimes tracks setup can drive right out…

“If” I was concerned about going through the ice, I’d install ATV floats before going the Argo route.

I think there are two popular’ish systems out there ranging from $400-600.

Regarding how you get an Argo out of the ice; if you break thru on thinner ice, the tires chew it up pretty good and will clear a path…but once the ice is too thick, I’ve never seen one climb out. You’ll be stuck (but dry) until some brave person winches you out.
