Shotshells are biodegradable, just like toilet paper.

Its funny sometimes things happen at the most ironic times! As I’m reading this post earlier today, I’m sitting in the oldest deerstand on our property. A stand that in November of 1996 I shot my first, second, and third deer. All on opening morning. Also the last time I or anybody else used a 12 ga for deer. I look down in the leaves and see 2 of my 5 empty shells. I had found 3 and figured those were the three that hit! Anyhow, these shells are now 24 years old. Definitely not breaking down to quickly.

If you use the lake as your toilet and leave the to out instead of bringing it with you, then you deserve a slap. Its gross and no one else needs to stumble upon your nastiness. Pick up your garbage. Thats that

Just wait until this ice season if there is good ice, it will look like a dump out there.

I think just because there’s no where to disguise trash on ice it sticks out more. Fact is there’s trash everywhere so it may be a bit slighted to stick it to ice anglers as a whole. As far as who is the biggest bunch of slobs I’d have to say teenagers eating fast food. Bags, cups, wrappers litter parking areas and streets around these food factories as soon as the noon hour rush is over during school years when kids flock to these places for lunch.

I’ve watches cars full of kids going back to school shovel out bags of crap out of the car’s windows as they pass our house. But maybe its these same kids littering the ice. Who knows.

Slobs are slobs no matter what other group they get attached to. Pick up after yourself and leave as little trace that you were there as possible. I don’t think the people here are the problem.

I never considered myself a slob, but I had to admit – I never thought twice about picking up spent shells. being an upland hunter, empties usually get spit to the side and overlooked. While deer hunting, if I fire a round, usually the empty case gets slid over a screw/nail if available, or wedged somewhere it won’t fall. Some stands we use have casings from many years ago still hanging – I always found them to be good for stirring up old memories while waiting for a buck to appear.
