Whitefish

Finally on some decent ice/snowcover this past weekend, allowing travel on the lake by snowmobile. We targeted walleyes early and late, with modest success, then spent a couple hours at mid-day tageting whitefish with small spoons/waxies over 27′-30′. We caught a few with this one being the largest.

I love whitefish. They are beautiful fish, game to chase/eat lures, great tablefare, and the sure can put up a fight! All were released btw.

Nice!!! I’d love to target them sometime, but not really any lakes in MN that have fishable quantities, that I am aware of anyway. I know some get pulled from Leech and Rainy occasionally, but it seems pretty random.
