Aaron KalbererPosts: 373January 9, 2018 at 11:41 am #1742641I used to run the light weight frabil suit and had no issues with it, I switched to the predator bibs and ice armor jacket (predator jacket didn’t fit to my liking just personal preference) Love the bibs and the features of the predator jacket would be plenty warm and the reason I went with the predator bibs was how nicely they moved with me as well. I use my ice suit for trapping as well and being able to move is a big deal.
January 9, 2018 at 1:36 pm #1742681I also have the predator suit and could not be happier. Purchased this season after selling my Ice Armor Edge suit after 1 season. Night and day difference between the 2. The Ice Armor Edge jacket was more of a wind breaker in my opinion. With that said, I have never been cold or wet so far in the predator suit. The past couple weekends have been -11 and I was plenty warm with just a sweatshirt and sweatpants underneath.
I have also worn the jacket and bibs for purposes other than ice fishing.
January 9, 2018 at 2:24 pm #1742696Got the Hardwater bibs last month. They’ve been great. Very warm and fit well. I fish mostly outside/on a bucket. I compared to Climate and while I liked the Climate, too, the Hardwater just seemed to fit a bit better and be a little less bulky. I was also surprised at how well the standard length works. I was assuming I’d need tall size (I’m 6′ 7″) but you’d have to be a darn giant to need tall sizes (I tried those on too).
Only downside I’ve had with the bibs is I wish they had 2 pockets up high, not just one. But other than that, great bibs.
January 10, 2018 at 8:43 pm #1743143I have worn my predator coat to work every day this week. Also great for shoveling the driveway this morning.
I wear a Predator Jacket all the time now. I don’t use it for <em class=”ido-tag-em”>ice fishing I have a Climate suit for that.
Thanks for the confirmation. I decided to go in the middle with the Hardwater. Kicking myself though for not ordering back when I was considering, with this polar plunge coming tomorrow through early next week. Would sure like to have it for this weekend just to wear going out and about and then ice fishing next week.
My hope was to get one at a local retailer to try them on and buy’n’go. Come to find out, they’re pretty much sold out at stores so ended up ordering one online today.
Oh well, once I get it…it should last my lifetime.

My brother has a predator suit and he said it was a little too warm for his liking early in the season but he still loves it. I don’t think either is a bad option.

I’ve been thinking about them but am fairly active or in a shack and don’t need ultra warm. Wondered if the predator bibs would be a bit much for drilling holes and pulling shacks.
January 11, 2018 at 11:33 am #1743283Is the climate suit without liners less warm than the predator? quote]
Predator is rated a 7/10
Hardwater is rated 9/10
Climate is rated 10/10 w/ liners. 4/10 w/o liners.Keep in mind that’s from a 2014-15 chart that is no longer found on strikers site so idk. Striker now lists the climate as 10/10 only. I have read some posts of guys saying the Climate without liners is almost the same as the predators, but I can’t comment on that.

January 12, 2018 at 6:10 pm #1743679I’ve had the liners out of my climate after the 1st day I used them. Way too warm for my liking. Even with the liner out and just a pair of jeans they are almost to warm for me. I was considering predator but see they are technically rated warmer than the climate without the liner in. Guess I’ll survive. No complaints otherwise going on season 4.
January 12, 2018 at 9:57 pm #1743735I been using the predator bibs for 5 seasons now and love them. 2 years ago I got the predator jacket. Love it too. Never use the liner, its too small and constricting for me and the whole jacket feels so bulky. Instead I put an extra layer on underneath and I’m good to go. I don’t even know if I know where the liner for the jacket it. Make sure you try on the jacket before you buy, I think the sizes are a little off. 2Xl bibs fit me great but I needed a 4Xl jacket. I’m 6″3″ 300lbs for reference.
James M BrownPosts: 6October 25, 2018 at 8:33 am #1805693I ended up with the predator bibs and a hard water jacket. The climate was too bulky. I can say the hard water jacket is almost too warm and I often times unzip the jacket. I like the set up but with so many pockets, I tend to lose stuff (probably age). No more freezing on the ice!
John SchultzInactivePortage, WIPosts: 3309October 25, 2018 at 2:43 pm #1805803I love my climate suit. I use it from October to April as I can just remove the liner if it isn’t really cold. I do find the jacket to be a little bulky with the liner in it, but not enough to hamper my fishing. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I think the jacket sizes run a bit small though. Had to go up a size.
