Home pool is 19 and its getting old being flooded out for weeks/months/entire summers. Its happening way more often than it used to and I don’t see a change on the horizon… Looking to focus on Iowa pools farther north where there is a little more stability and the river recovers faster. SO THE QUESTION IS if you were to pick a pool in Iowa for SUMMER walleye which would it be and WHY?

Mine you I have not walleye fish for sometime, but I would pick Clinton to fish. You have the a dam, wing dams, flat, deep holes, bridges and some back waters to hunter in. One good thing is you can hit all of them to find what works for that day. Good luck on your hunt to fine a new fishing area.

Pool 14 at Clinton is probably the best walleye pool bordering Iowa. Not a whole lot better flow and level wise anywhere the last couple years, but summer on 14 can be terrific.

Have had quite a few people say 14 so I think that is the direction we’ll head. Does it tend to be a wingdam, trolling clam beds or pitching bite during the summer?
