Which boat?

I’m looking at getting a new boat. Either the crestliner discovery 1650 with a 50 mercury big tiller or an alumacraft escape with a 50 etec tiller. Any thoughts or experiences with either boat? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also for a bow mounted trolling motor would the terrova 55 12 volt be enough for this boat or would the 80 24 bolt be worth the upgrade. Some river fishing will b done on the Wisconsin river above Petenwell flowage. Thanks again.

Alumacraft with the 4 cylinder 50hp merc would be my choice, should be able to troll down to a crawl with that setup. Go bigger on the trolling motor you will not regret it. DK.

I would go Merc but don’t think you need to spend the cash for the big tiller handle for a 50 hp motor.

Always go with a bigger troller. I went with a 80lb terrova for my yarcraft with a 60 horse on it. That thing will pull me around at 5 mph. Anchors in 20 mph winds like it’s nothing! I don’t think I’ve had it over speed 6 other than on accident when I hit the rabbit button. Almost threw my fishing partner out of the boat lol.

Go with bigger trolling motor. I have an 80lb terrova on my 145 escape.
Have an e-tec on mine, love it,

As far as the boats, anybody fish out of the crestliner discovery 1650 tiller? Both boats seem nice but I’m leaning towards the crestliner, partially cuz the dealer is right down the road from me and seems like a great guy.

I have an Alumicraft Lunker 1650 with 50 Horse Mercury 4 stroke EFI and it is plenty of motor for you. I have a counsel and sometimes wish I had tiller. I run a 55 pd Power drive and I would definitely suggest going with the larger trolling motor for sure. You will not regret it!!
