Not sure if it was the Debbie post, but I seem to remember a topic where he was a bit hostile?

Hostile I don’t think is a good word, forward perhaps, candid, I appreciate that. Everyone’s allowed to have a bad day.

Hostile was a not the right word. Abrasive? I don’t know, like I said I can’t even remember the topic, so I dunno.

Debbie Dallas was asked to take a hike. JD Winston – the man behind Debbie’s curtain took objection and left with her.

The post in question was a poor attempt at sexual humor that added nothing to the original posting. It was not an appropriate posting for a site we try to keep “Family Friendly”.

JD is more than welcome to return anytime. He is not banned from the website. He will however have to endure the hypocrisy of the moderators. wave

Ahh…I see. I totally missed that thread. I must have read the thread title and assumed it was of a political/religious nature and scrolled right past it. whistling
Too bad it turned out that way. I’ve always held the opinion that this site(and it’s users) more than most hold themselves to a pretty high standard when it comes to maintaining respect and professionalism(maturity even?), even when a topic gets touchy. IDO gives a lot of leeway, and most everyone self-polices to keep it that way. That, and on NO other site have I found a group of people more willing to help a guy out with almost any subject without any expectation of return…That’s the whole reason we’re here, isn’t it?
For that alone, thank you IDO and the (overall) awesome membership that frequents this site. applause
…and thanks for clearing up the topic question!

Where has Mr Holst been?! His last post was February 15th, hopefully everything is good and he has just busy with a hot bite.

JD took his ball and went home so to speak. As Jon pointed out he said he was going to do it. I liked the guy on here because usually he added an interesting point of view on topics, even if he was playing devils advocate on it.

From what I recall JD brought a bit of flair, but got a little carried away on how things should be, threw his rattle up against the wall and that was it. Not as much fishing chat from him but he certainly livened things up for awhile if that’s what you like.

I believe he had a point about hypocrisy. I remember one terribly sexist post that was full of innuendos that I would not want my daughter reading. Mods were posting too. Just got carried away. I remember thinking that the good old boys club can do what it wants. I’ve certainly roughed the seas here a few times. JD did add a fun element. I like to laugh when I fish or hunt. Prolly ok to laugh when reading, learning, and discussing those pass times too. I hope the man and Deb are happy. Or is it Deb and the man……….?

he did have a point. ive read plenty of the passive aggressive racist comments, as he pointed out, sexist jokes, and it seems like there is always a political thread active. Obviously the mille lacs situation is related to fishing but you cant even touch that subject without being political – they are one in the same. I mean the whole thing is a discussion about treaty rights and race relations when its boiled down. I appreciate this site for the good people I have interacted with and for sharing and learning with others about the outdoors. I agree with JD’s point of view but unlike him, I can tolerate it and accept that it is what it is. I don’t have to like or agree with everyone on here. I guess JD couldn’t get past that point. I liked him – he was a witty fello

Bottom line is IDO pays for the servers. The rules are at their discretion.

Honestly I’m glad heshe left. Heshe’s posts were mind numbingly dumb to say the least and I don’t think heshe brought anything to the table as far as fishing went. I think James and the gang do a fantastic job of running an extremely successful web-site. James’s site James’s rules. Don’t like it leave it. If he or his mods don’t like something it’s THEIRS to dust. If JD/Deb thinks heshe can do better, there is all kinds of web builders and domain names available. Best of luck to heshe on building something this successful. Until then IDO is where it’s at.

He was a regular contributer and frequent visitor but when he caught some heat over a post he suddenly referred to IDO as a dying forum and began to belittle James and Jon, speaks volumes.
