What happened to the ‘Sweet Country Music’ thread? I was hoping to check out some more of the recommended artists that were listed….

Looks like it got deleted. I don’t recall seeing it violate and rules or getting nasty.

It was likely an error. The mods aren’t likely to completely dust a post unless there’s a problem.

There are many great “Alt Country” acts right now that are pretty much the antithesis of Mainstream “Bro Country.” A few have been mentioned in this thread like Whiskey Meyers, Colter Wall, etc.

My current favorite is Taylor McCall, although I’d characterize his new album “Black Powder Soul” as blues – but it’s GREAT (He’s a hunter and fisherman too) discovered him on MeatEater podcast. I was listening to him so much that my friend surprised me with an Autographed Copy of his record.

But check out these great Artist/Albums/Songs:

John Moreland – Albums “High on Tulsa Heat,” “Big Bad Luv” or “In the Throes” his song “Blacklist” is one of my favorite ballads, ever

    Jason Isbell – Album “Southeastern”

Otis Gibbs – a BUNCH of great Americana albums/tunes, but check out specifically the tunes “Big Whiskers,” “Panhead” and “Lord Open Road.”
