In MN shutdown is imminent, maybe this weekend, maybe next week, it’s coming.

So, where you fishing between now and then?

I’m super excited for the warmer temps, sun would be bonus but I’m hoping suckers will at least start showing up a lil this week. If I can catch a few before the closure with the kiddos I’m happy dude. Got my worms, have plenty of spots with limited people.

Also maybe what you cancelled so far too?

We cancelled our rainy trip in couple weeks. Bummed, would’ve been my first time up. Oh well, maybe next spring.

If we can, let’s keep it about the fishing folks, thank you!

Heading to Green Bay on Friday. Can’t wait. Praying to the heavens that WI doesn’t shut down the ramps before then……

Does a guy hurt anything munchy by driving right to the park and fishing?

Should I stop going to the ballfield and catching for my daughter?

    Maybe going for neighborhood walks?

Don’t be overly dramatic bud. This virus is airborne, but it is in droplet form per say, hence the 6′ distance rule, not to cough. I hope we as a society can be level headed and figure out what is safe and what is not.

Hoards of people going to fish the rainy, not so good, one person going down to your local lake to soak in some time we won’t get again for awhile, good in my book

If I catch a buffalo or quillie to end the spring season id crap myself!

Heading to SD for the spawn as soon as temps in the Missouri warm a little. Didn’t get away soon enough last year and missed it by a couple days. Completely different style of fishing compared to the jigging and trolling we normally do. IDO episode 19 was a great show on the start of it and the plastics i’m not used to fishing with.

I’m hoping to get out somewhere local if the ice is still safe.

I’m going to give the panfish a break and focusing on tullibee for the remainder of my ice season, time to fire up the smoker 👍

Certainly doesn’t sound like people just going down to their local pond and fishing.

Nearly 300 miles each way. With no stops for gas, food, bait, or pee breaks. rotflol

    insufferable comments munchy

I think you need to double check the meaning of insufferable. There is nothing of the sorts in any of my comments.

My opinion comes from some of the top medical experts at Mayo Clinic. Most everyone in the medical community right now is scared to death of what could happen if we dont contain this. They aren’t getting their information from the local news. The more people out wandering around the worse it can be.

And certainly you can see the difference between heading down to a local lake to catch some panfish and heading off to the other side of the state for a weekend.

With the ticks getting bad(found 9 yesterday between me and the dog) shed season will be coming to an end after the next couple walks. That leaves fishing the Mighty Miss to quarantine myself. To all of us guys looking to fish, maybe we can do our part and sanitize the pump handle each time we fill up. I have plenty of Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer for a couple weeks of pumping gas into the boat. Glad I stocked up earlier this winter! I’m a firm believer we can still get out and enjoy spring just follow the guidelines and be smart about it. From some of the posts on this site it seams many people have already been cooped up for to long!

I noticed the other evening the Trump/Pence commentary left the head doc of the cdc out of it. I’ve noticed that the doc has been quick to correct Trump in the past as to the severity of this and I don’t think the Trumpet likes to be corrected…always right and smarter than the experts. I think we’d be far better off to have the medical experts doing what they do without any interference from the political end of it.

I’m with Munchy on this 100%. Half of our extended family works at Mayo and we get the real what’s what, not some played down, watered down version from a political nightmare.

Wow. I’ve also listened to experts all morning as well. Guess we each have experts on our side don’t we.

On a serious note if anyone has 1/4″ elastic I will need some for next round of masks. I’m willing to pay for shipping and costs. Dig into your wives, granny, girlfriends stash.

Unsure why listening to and following the advice of medical experts who have been recommending (for us) to stay home for the last 2 or 3 weeks requires such a drama filled debate. They are medical experts for a reason, they know their capacity and capabilities. This isn’t going to go away any time soon if we keep allowing it to spread, and we can’t just ignore it.

I guarantee if you just put your life on pause and listen to the experts this will be done sooner than later and have A LOT less affect on your life.

Munchy, I’m from the same part of the state as you and like many in our area, I know 900 people who work at Mayo. I’ve been on board with pretty much everything you’ve said regarding this pandemic and I appreciate the work you and those in your field are doing.

And I wish your avatar would stop staring at me like a creep.

@Munchy, I’ll be honest I am on the fence about going to Green Bay. Right now, I plan on going. I may change my mind. I am a healthcare professional in a hospital also. I, for the most part have been on your side in this battle (see some of the other posts on this topic). But the longer this goes and the more I’ve seen from this, the more I realize it is getting further and further out of my control. Green Bay actually has less chance of me getting it/bringing it back here than my chances of getting it here in the cities. I’m going with one other guy. We will be driving straight through to and from, using plenty of hand sanitizer and have even called the WI DNR and the Brown Co Sherriff to see what they recommend. They both said as long as proper social distancing, hand washing, they find it acceptable. That was after the news from this afternoon.

It’s going to be a tough decision either way honestly. I don’t take it lightly. But if I feel that it is safe enough for me to go, I’m going to go. I could get infected/infect others just as easy from filling up at a gas pump on my way to work 4 days a week or going through the drive through here in the cities.

As of right now, that is where I stand. Go ahead and rip me if you want, I’m over it.

“I appreciate the work you and those in your field are doing”

Stop right there, I’ll be the first to admit my field is not medical, nor am I much an expert in anything. More of a “Jack of all trades, master of none” type. I’m just lucky enough to have married my “nurse with a purse” who works alongside some of the top doctors and medical researchers in the world. And unlike some, when an expert (in anything) speaks about what they are an expert in, I listen, and I learn something every time.

Now will I go to that same person when I need to change out a 50hp 480volt 3phase electric motor? You bet your a$$ I won’t!

I really don’t mean to single anyone out but how would the MAYO experts explain how it would be more risky to take my son fishing (my truck, boat – wait inside my truck until my turn at the ramp, don’t socialize, unload my boat, fish, go home in the same manner) than it is to play catch with him in our yard? even if it was an hour away.

I’m right down the middle on this one. I think both “sides” are right. If you take necessary precautions, wash hands, sanitize gas pump, bring your own food, stay 10 ft away from people , etc etc, I think some responsible fishing trips are ok in the coming weeks.

Having said that I cancelled my Rainy trip and haven’t left the house in about 12 days. I am targeting some stream trout fishing in the coming weeks.

In regards to Toms comments c’mon man. I am watching right now and he has Dr Fauci on and has had Dr Birx on several times every single day. He has a balancing act on his hands, you cannot shut down the entire economy indefinitely or you will have bigger problems on your hands.
