Hello, I know its still a ways off yet but I’m trying to get a trip planned for opener and can’t decide which lake to head to. I have it narrowed down to either Lake of the Woods, or Upper Red Lake. I have fished both before but never on opener. Any suggestions as to which would be a better bet that weekend and why? Thank you

Tough to beat url in May….. I’ve fished both several times for opener and red has been lights out everytime.

I’m headed to Red. Will be my first Opener up there.

We are thinking about doing red as well. If I don’t do the mille lacs midnight fish.
Red is so easy. Just wind drift and pluck fish out like no other

Red. Nice and easy. Fresh meal still kicking while there and bring one home for the family.

Only consideration is if you are looking for lodging. That might be pretty tough to find right now.
