And yes, I had to look up how to spell the plural of thesis so I would not embarrass myself again .

    Good call. smirk
The whole wearing a mask thing is just hard for some because it’s change. Change can be very hard to accept.

So you need to wear a mask when restuarants open??? You need to take it off to eat. You just defeated the whole purpose.

Wanna wear a mask have at it, if ya don’t don’t. I for one won’t if I’m not required to. In Menards case when they charge you for it, not happening. They make it mandatory, they need to supply it free of charge.

Yes that is why masks in restaurants are recommended when not eating but not required for customers. That is also why restaurants have been later to open up in most places. You’re grasping at straws. As for Menards providing free masks, that is some interesting logic

why is that! All employers are required to provide PPE when they your supposed to wear it or discipline occurs.

I went to children’s hospital, they require a mask, they provided it no fee, I wore it. I gave blood at the St cloud blood center, they required it, they provided it free, I wore it.

And Menards charges for the mask.

Businesses require shirts but don’t have to provide a shirt for you. It is weird to say they are charging you for a mask. You are choosing to go in to a private business that requires masks. If you don’t have one, they will sell you one. They don’t require you to wear one of their masks

If you don’t like the mask policy at Menards, don’t shop there. Not a difficult concept.

So you No Mask guys are going to voluntarily give up your hospital bed when they’re at capacity and the next covid patient comes in, right?
And you’ll make sure you’re the last ones vaccinated if they create a successful one, right?
Just saving your decency for later?

And why did hospitals become flooded? Because the tv told 330,000,000 people, in January mind you, that if they feel ANY symptoms (regardless of severity) to go to the doctor. Well, being January, EVERYBODY WAS SHOWING “FLU-LIKE” SYMPTOMS!! Then, everybody went to the hospitals. Guess what happened next………………

You realize mortality rate matters here right? Ever wonder why “number of recovered” is never mentioned anymore? Use your brain…

That’s odd, it’s not what my TV told me. Perhaps I’m asking the wrong questions. Or worse, fake news.

Not only will i give up my hospital bed i will do 1 better and not go to the hospital and or doctor because i feel sick! And as far as a vaccine i definitely will not take one that was developed and (tested) in 6-12 months. Gonna need way more time on that one bud. Go ahead and live in fear, i will live life to the fullest i can make it. Im more about quality than quantity.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, alot of info to gather over the course of just a few months….

At the start of covid we shutdown bc we didn’t have capacity, ICUs, ventilators, PPE, etc. We as a nation finally are getting there with supplies, so we are opening up.

At the start of covid MN as a whole had about 300 total ICU beds. Right now which shows on the dashboard in pic shown is lil over thousand being used right now, mind you we have had a mandated stay at home order for 2 months dang near. What exactly do you people think will happen when this opens up?

Walz has this explained quite well in all his daily conferences, I urge everyone to follow along.

He will shut down again if capacity gets to be too much. I hate to say it, but if ya cant wear a mask for others health wear one for the economy bc we can’t afford to go back into lockdown again.

Does this mean mask proponents will wear masks going forward for the rest of their lives? You always have a chance to pass along something that can kill someone, even before covid.

Yes, every time there is a virus spreading that has a very long incubation period and huge amount of asymptomatic spread that spreads primarily through respiratory droplets and is causing significant amounts of death In vulnerable populations while also causing a concerning amount of long term organ damage in less vulnerable populations I will make the minor sacrifice of wearing a mask when I am in indoor public spaces in the hope that it slows the spread of the virus and hopefully helps the people around me. I guess I am not a warrior

It’s needed for any society to create that “herd immunity” pug. This virus is no exception other than the fact it spreads so well, and the hospitalization rate being so high it can be devastating to communities because it overwhelms. Hence the lockdown, hence the preparation.

It hasn’t ever been bc we don’t want people getting sick, it’s always been bc we can’t have everyone getting sick at the same time.

There’s still numerous shortage in hospitals. Breaking it down to numbers of bed and vents is overly simplistic and leads to a false sense of security.

Propofol, the sedative used to keep people from ripping their ET tube out the instant they wake up, being a huge one right now. It is a constant drip. Three minutes after it’s turned off, a person starts to awaken. Versed/fentanyl cocktail is used when propofol is dropping your blood pressure too much. That’s short too. FDA just approved two new meds for vent sedatives, but there may be some growing pains from using them. That’s to be expected. The Dilaudid we use to keep people comfortable is short too. Being on a ventilator for a month plus and having your muscles atrophy is very painful. All of these meds are used in general anesthesia and elective surgeries. This is a big reason why so few elective surgeries are being done, and why staff are getting furloughed, which then fuels other rumors.

Ventilator circuit boards are short, as well as numerous small accessory parts. Many of these vents being moved around the county are very old, some are two or three generations back. Some are complete garbage, but they’re still counted. On the ones that work, you’re one broken part away from a completely unusable vent, because there is no way to get parts.

There are currently enough respiratory therapists in the US, as far as I know. They’re an extremely important part of a critical care team because they’re the ones that run the vents and adjust settings based on patient condition. Their training, experience, and expertise is extensive. Hopefully we don’t have to stretch them thin or overwork them, because the that’s when people start making mistake.

Not to mention the nurses. Vent-trained nurses don’t grow on trees.

This all falls on deaf ears. People are gonna do what they’re gonna do.

I work in the medical diagnostic industry developing tests that use blood as the sample. I wear PPE every time I go in the lab: lab coat, gloves, eye shields. We treat every sample we handle as if it is infectious even if it comes from a blood bank that has tested the samples for the known pathogens. I started wearing applause a mask a couple weeks before it was suggested because I am at higher risk of complications if I get Covid 19. I was self conscious about it for about 2 minutes. Now more people are wearing masks than not. I was at Fleet Farm 2 weeks ago and the grocery store yesterday and the vast majority of non-maskers are men. I’ve seen a few families whereapplause mom and the kids are masking but dad isn’t. shock I think non-masking is more of a macho mentality than anything else. My quality of life is great. Baaaaah!!

So not all the time. The flu has a 1-4 asymptomatic incubation period and causes fatalities in vulnerable populations. Anyone of us could be patient zero at any given time for a similar pandemic. Most, probably all, contagious diseases have an incubation period.

I am just trying to figure out the bar, because I do everything asked of me during the pandemic except wear a mask in public and I have been chastised for it.

Is there scientific evidence for the mask wearing and not just “hope”? N95 masks need to be fitted to the person to be effective. Cloth masks do nothing but turn into bacteria sesspools. Cover mouth when you cough or sneeze and wash your hands.

Also odd that the cdc and who do not have the same recommendations.

Nice to see kids playing B-man. Anyone who owned a lake place up north this weekend was packed with guests. We had friends bring their campers up who had no where else to go this weekend due to campground closures. All of our neighbors had extra guests beyond family members some gatherings were twenty plus people. Boats on the lake appeared to have capacity passengers.

Lots of people around campfires and neighbors stopping by neighbors fires for hello’s and a drink. Seems the folks up north at least are done with this. Hwy. 53 going south yesterday was packed with people towing campers and boats so I’m guessing what I was seeing around my place was going on everywhere. Lots of campers on the road for no campgrounds being opened.

I know we are. I was just adding on. There are a few like-minded people on here.

As far as the mask goes, I feel distancing and small-group activities is far more effective, if only because it’s realistic and sustainable.

I’m having a real hard time understanding this whole if you don’t do it to protect yourself – Then do it to protect others. Or I should thank someone for wearing a mask to protect ME. Its not my job to protect others – Its their responsibility to do what they think is necessary to protect themselves. If they feel wearing a mask helps them – Then wear a mask. If they feel staying home is what is necessary – Then stay home. I’m sure if others didn’t drive on the roads I’d be much safer as well – But I don’t expect them to stay off the roads because its good for me. I got news for everyone. Living life involves risk each day – Its should be up to each of us to decide how much risk we are willing to take while we live it. There are simply a ton of things that The government could force or others could choose to do, That would make the world a safer or better place for everyone. A lot of these things would have a far bigger impact overall than simply wearing a mask. Everyone has different things in life that effects or matters to them, That don’t matter to others. If they banned all smoking, It would not bother me at all – I don’t Smoke, but I know a ton of people who do and it would really upset them. If they go back to saying motorcycle riders must wear helmets, Once again it would not bother me – I don’t ride a motorcycle. I could go on and on but I think everyone gets the point.

Yes every disease has an incubation period but a lot of diseases aren’t contagious when the person is asymptomatic (viral load typically correlates with symptoms and patient being contagious).
Minneapolis is requiring masks now but not the state itself

More power to the people wearing masks. They are uncomfortable and one does not look very good in it so thank you for doing it.

I guess its like people washing their hands after going to the bathroom. You don’t wash the fecal materiel off your hands for your own safety you do it so other people are not exposed to your sh–. Its not a law to wash your hands after using the bathroom so it up to each person if its too much work wash after wipe their ass. Let the people who don’t want my fecal material take action rather then me washing my hands after wiping may ass makes sense to me. Its a lot of work to wash my hands.
