I believe it… Doctor Brix said it. Think about it… a man can’t breathe, he tests positive for a virus that causes loss of breath. Not a stretch at all.
So you’re saying covid killed Floyd, not Chauvin’s knee?
What masks did they use at the Great Clips in Missouri? They had 2 employees working with symptoms and exposed over 100 people and all I could find was that about 40 tested negative.
They need a test that will only report positives for virus capable of infection. They aren’t really alive, they don’t need to eat and they can only reproduce with the help of a host animal.
Trump easily wins the black vote
This reaches a point of dillusion that doesn’t make me laugh, it literally makes me concerned for your mental health.
Honest to God…..this morning I saw a couple paddling down the St. Croix Scenic Riverway with a canoe and camping gear……
SHE WAS WEARING A MASK
You can’t make that up
Seems the pressure got to the WHO and now recommending to wear a mask is areas where the risk of transmission is high. Says recent studies but nothing more about why. Good thing we are not part of that anymore so don’t need to listen to them.

Well when you have governors putting covid patients IN nursing homes, maybe a few older folks not planning on kicking the bucket yet, were helped along. Good observation

Alright so I am going to take a different tack on this one. I am happy to explain the nursing home thing if anyone would like to hear the real issue and reasons behind covid patients going into nursing homes. I don’t want to bother with all the typing if it is going to be the same closed minded crap as normal. Feel free to ask
I’ve just been made aware of a fact that will hopefully silence this coronavirus back-and-forth banter.
The coronavirus was told to stay away from Chuck Norris for 14 days.

Ok I’ll ask. Commence typing.
Alright then.
Keep in mind people can test positive for weeks after recovering from covid, new research suggests they usually aren’t contagious.
The biggest issue is people that were in a nursing home or assisted living before they got covid. Nursing homes have been locked down since way before the state locked down but employees brought covid in. If a nursing home patient gets covid, goes to the hospital and then recovers, where does that person go? They needed nursing home level care before covid so they can’t go home or to live with family. They have recovered from whatever put them in the hospital, usually pneumonia, so they can’t stay in the hospital. They go home, to the nursing home. Nursing homes have dedicated covid wings if they are able to take admits. It is still very difficult to prevent it from spreading in the building, some facilities have done better than others. I have had this conversation a lot so I will answer the questions that are coming:
1. Why can’t they stay in the hospital?
The biggest issue here is money and time. Somebody would have to pay for that patient to stay in the hospital and they don’t meet Insurance requirements, that is why they got released. Keep in mind they can continue to test positive for up to 8 weeks
2. Why didn’t the state set up a facility for this type of patient?
Biggest issue here is staffing. Nursing homes are woefully understaffed as it is and it is worse than ever right now
3. Couldn’t they staff it with all the nurses that got laid off?
Maybe. They would have had to convince those nurses to go off unemployment to work exclusively with covid patients in a nursing home setting. Easier said than done
4. Why are other state’s doing better with this?
Some of it is about reporting data. Minnesota has been way more transparent than most states. Medicare had to put a requirement that states/facilities start reporting this data starting June 1 but it only required data back to May 1. Many states are also only reporting deaths that occur in the nursing home. If a patient goes to the hospital and dies they don’t record that as a nursing home death.
Ha, fair. Here are the cliff notes. People that were already in a nursing home, get covid, go to the hospital, then get released don’t have anywhere else to go besides back to the nursing home.
But they were not all recovered from covid. Seems like a dumb plan to me considering elderly have a high death rate from covid. I don’t think Florida handled it that way and we have one of the lowest death rates per capital.

One more question if you have time. People are coming down hard on Cuomo for the nursing home policy. Why? Did he really give the orders to take patients to nursing homes? Shouldn’t the medical community make these decisions? This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a governor dictating how health groups manage patients.
we were hoodwink by China, WHO, and Doc Falchi, on the Wuhan virus.. Yes Cuomo did give the order to take Wuhan virus patients to nursing homes, and bragged about it in his early press conference.

Sigh, I am tempted to just say please read the long post but oh well. They were recovered from what put them in the hospital (pneumonia etc). People can continue to test positive for covid for a long time but not be sick enough to need to be in the hospital. That patient gets released and has to go somewhere
Florida said early on they weren’t going to put covid patients in nursing homes. I honestly don’t know what they are doing with their people that are in the situation described above. Florida’s data is pretty suspect, however. They seem to be dealing with a troubling spike in pneumonia deaths over the last couple months

Cuomo did bring that up early in his press conferences. New York was in a different situation than most places and needed to clear hospital rooms. I would imagine that wasn’t his idea and that it was doctors telling him it was needed to clear hospital space. I have doctor friends in several states and each of those states is putting those people back in nursing homes. There really isn’t anywhere else to put them.
You paint a rosier picture than all the articles I am reading about his policy of putting them (back) in nursing homes. I was astounded that they kept the subways running. In fact I am surprised any city kept mass transit running or at least didn’t put some strict rules in place.
I see more people wearing masks now than ever before. Even though the WHO announced how rare it is for asymptomatic carriers to spread the disease.
I have been done wearing them for a long time. Only when I cant avoid it.

He didn’t have the foresight to buy a huge refrigerated warehouse like Walz did… send them back to the nursing home for a stint, then the bodies start rolling out the back and into his warehouse. Meh
New guidance from the WHO. Interesting how the recommendation for cloth masks has evolved into a recommendation for a much more effective filter material. Your old bandanna or old dirty shirt doesn’t cut it anymore. This tells me that they’ve realized they aren’t particularly effective.
WHO unveils COVID-19 mask guidance; UK group pulls plug on malaria drug study
Regarding cloth face masks, the WHO recommends that they be made with three different layers: an inner cotton absorbent one, a middle filtering one made from polypropylene, and an outer nonabsorbent layer made from, for example, a polyester polypropylene blend.
WHO officials today said the rationale for wearing a cloth face mask in certain settings is to provide a barrier that prevents the spread of droplets from people with asymptomatic or presymptomatic infections. Mike Ryan, MD, said the goal is source control, “more of an altruistic act.” And they emphasized that respiratory protection against COVID-19 is an area of research that will expand and that they expect recommendations will evolve over time.
Thanks for posting your viewpoint on the nursing homes. I’ve been critical of our state on how they’ve handled the situation but what you’ve stated sheds some good light on what the difficulties were.
I’m still critical of the handling of the situation especially when they continue to pat themselves on the back about it. There was ample warning and time to develop policies and plans to handle the most vulnerable back in January and February. We knew very early on that it affected the elderly far worse than the rest of the population.
I really really hope that are prepared for a resurgence this fall. There would be zero excuse for a failure in nursing homes at this point. I expect us to lead the nation, not follow.
To date I can not blame any issues related to the covid pandemic on politicians, the blasting of Trump, Cuomo, Walz, whoever. There’s no playbook for this, it’s a complete unknown. I truly believe that all involved did what they thought best at the time, and it’s real easy for us to sit on our couches and criticize the results after the fact.
Now, if they aren’t 100% prepared for some level of chaos this fall that would be a disgrace.
Bob, it’s our job be critical of our elected officials. Especially when they fail. Just because we haven’t seen this in over 100 years doesn’t mean they didn’t fail.
Normally Walz openly admits responsibility for failures. He hasn’t here and it bothers me. If you can’t admit defeat or failure, it’s more difficult to learn from the situation.
I guess there has to be one Facebook feed to satisfy a certain crowd. Yes color me purple. I no longer care about arguing or putting a 2 cents worth on subject spirals into nowhere.
HSO get nixed?
Yeh, don’t click on it Yada de Yada. Fricking wasting bandwidth for nothing.

I agree. They could certainly accept responsibility for things gone wrong and talk about what they will do better in the future.
My frustration comes from the large group of people that think everything is a conspiracy to get us. We’ve all heard this. There are people that think Covid was made up so Bill Gates and Dr. Fauci could sell vaccinations, or it was made to make Trump look bad, or it’s a ploy to control the population.
I’m just tired of that bull and I don’t believe it. Even though we all think politicians are poop I can’t make myself believe there are people willing to kill thousands of people just to prove a point.
I believe they are trying their best with the information they have and I accept that they are in a difficult circumstance Nd they can not please everyone
Matt, no problem. The systems are getting better. Getting more PPE was helpful but they still don’t have enough. I sincerely hope it will go better in LTC centers if/when a second wave or surge happens. Some of the more recent research about when patients are no longer contagious should help as well.
Sinker, thanks for throwing in your 2 cents about not throwing in your 2 cents. The rest of your post seems to be gibberish but I am sure you had a great point in there somewhere.
or it was made to make Trump look bad
Did you watch any of the Press Briefings ? Talk about a game of gotcha… pathetic media.
