I was curious if anyone know when we will see the new season start. I’m in need of my James, Pat and Marcus fix.
Good news, good news indeed. I am looking forward to it for sure! Thanks for all the great content.
Any new locations this year? Maybe a place you’ve always wanted to film at, but for one reason or another it hasn’t happened?
I hope that’s a hint because that sounds like a good time (and show)!

Let’s call it a goal. I’ve always wanted to do one but I’ve never been able to make the timing work.
Hey James, thanks for hanging around in here the last few days. It’s good to have you here.
Since you’re talking goals/new adventures. Have you ever been ice fishing the East Coast?

Thank you. When the talk focuses on fishing… I enjoy my time here.

No sir. Furthest east I’ve been is Lake Erie. You?
Some small lakes in Michigan is as far east as I’ve been. I was just curious if you’ve ever thought of fishing the waters out that way. I know it’s probably not practical to drive and film that far east.

Our “reasonable” drive range is about 15 hours one way. That gives us enough time to make the drive out on a Sunday night fish a day and then get back in the truck and drive back. Once we get back, hopefully on Wednesday the editors go to work and basically don’t get to sleep until the show is delivered midday Friday. Outside of that range and it feels more like a death march than a fishing trip.
I’ve banked about 300,000 Delta miles so we could always fly but getting all of our gear to destination then becomes the challenge. That said, if the bite’s really on we usually find a way to make it work.
The grindiest trip we’ve done was a 26 hours each way rip out to Lake Cascade, ID. We fished one day, got a show and hopped into the truck and drove 26 hours back. My back hurt for weeks after that one. That was back in the days when we were still running my 2005 Chevy diesel. Let’s just say the seats were shot…man, I loved that truck though!
JFK assassination date I’d assume
thank you, seemed funny in my head!
I have walkable ice in front of my house. Fun to catch some sunnies for a appetizer.
That’s my favorite part of the show. It’s current, and you’re willing to travel quite a distance for a good show. I always seem to learn something from the show every week.
Anything new this year that you’re excited about, besides that new wheeler? Any new lures, that once I see I’ll probably buy every size and color?
I just put together my Mega 360 ice bundle build today so I’m pretty darn excited about that. Still need to work on cable management and those fine details but I think once I get out on the ice without unit it’s going to be pretty powerful.
We did the Cascade trip. We did it in 5 days and that was still a beast on the body. I can’t imagine doing it in 3 days round trip.
People say you have the best job in the world, and you do, but I don’t think a lot of folks know how much work goes into making a show. Maybe that could be a show segment once. Just showing all the moving parts to make IDO.
I give you and the boy’s credit James.I love to fish but i would go nuts being in the truck that long.
Good luck on what i hope is a great season.

That could be a good idea for some of the off-season or web extras on YouTube. But I could also see it being tough to make filming guys working through the administrative and logistical aspects exciting enough for some to watch.

This was/is my exact sentiment as well.
A while back I commented on another thread an appeal for more supervision or more so input from some of the “staff” for a fishing related voice during some of the remaining fishing discussions.
During the last few months as some topics continued to unravel, I was reminded of 2nd or 3rd grade school when the teacher left the classroom…the mischief was allowed to manifest into an almost immediate exhibition of juvenile behavior.
Sad that some preferred the playground (for virtual fisticuffs) over the classroom but now we know better.
Anyway…Dutchboy
Let’s help this along, post more of your fish pics.
