    They’ve obviously never tried swimming in Lake Superior.

    The biggest lures I’ve ever seen smallmouth hit are when the males are on the beds protecting. I’ve thrown a 9 inch muskie lure near shore and had an 11 inch buck bass hit it. That was cooler water in June time frame anyway ~

    I fish the toothy critters mainly using fairly large jerkbaits. I don’t get the numbers of bass the bass guys do and I’m not trying. However many – most of the bass I do get are (18 to > 22)”, 4 to 6+ pounds. This is in about (12 to 18)’ off points or deep weed lines. One my bud caught on a cool windy morning.
