You could still travel roads just like the wheeled units.

Yea you can but you’re gonna need a pretty good size trailer to haul the skid and wheeler on. And without tracks your not going very far off road if there is much snow. So at what point do you just get a wheelhouse then? i really dont see much of a advantage unless you have a tracked machine to get off the plowed areas in the deep snow

Like Bearcat i’m seriously considering on of those light aluminum ones also. They are pretty basic though. You guys with the 6.5 wides x 14 or 16, what do they weigh?

For those looking ive seen some very low prices on homemades this week. Prices dropping

Yep, very good prices on all wheelhouses right now at the end of the season. I think it’s even more of them this year though because of the weird, short season. Very tempting to jump in and get something. The homemade trailers have so little resale value, even though many of them look very nice and are probably built better than a lot of the name brand ones.

I would think around 3,000 lbs.

    I’d say any single axle.

Resorts do not seem to care if you have a steel or aluminum frame, they go by axles and truck size.

Single axle and 1/2 ton truck will always get you out there first maybe even 2 to 3 weeks earlier.

So, depends on what you want.

If you don’t mind missing a potential 2 to 3 trips than you could go dual axle especially if you have a larger family.

Personally I’d go with a single axle, 17′ footer.

Agree. Only thing is with those homemades you don’t know what your getting. At least with the name brands you know you’re getting crap jester

Agree for the most part going on three years with mine that was used when I bought it. However almost all the brands have there known issues. I have had a ground issue, a brake issue and a couple other minor things on mine so far.
