Did you order it un-insulated? Not trying to be a smart a$$! Mine is sprayed and drys quickly after setup.

I always mostly cover the holes and use minimal light, especially for a rattle reel, turn on too many lights or foot steps. They can drop it.

I would have the floor sprayed, better for everything, heat, moisture, noise, propane, batteries. Get it sprayed.

Dusty is right. Floor foam makes a HUGE difference. Don’t forget your hole covers.

I added 2- 200ah batteries to my house years ago, I can go for 4-5 days without recharging them, generator is back up incase something fails, haven’t run one in years. Quieter houses catch more fish…..

Hey Dusty, typically what do you have running for these 4-5 days?

Camping in mine this weekend and I realized my glacier outlets inside are 120v only when I’m plugged into outside power. So either I’ll have to wire a converter to the outlets or be plugged in to outside power to run my tv and other 120v things.

I was assuming there were already a converter built in for this.

Most come with a converter for 110-12v, normally need to add an inverter for 12v-110.

I’m Dan and I’m new here and this is my first post. I’ve been searching this exact topic for a few weeks now.

I recently bought my first wheelhouse and am very excited to get it out fishing. I already have a honda eu2000i and a predator 2000. I have the extended run tank for the honda. I’d like to not use the generator unless I have to. I was thinking the furnace would run a few days before draining the battery but my research has been showing me that’s not gonna happen.

I have access to a inverter to go from my 12 battery to 120 to power the tv. I have room to add another battery but I’d like to keep some space for all the little things I’ll end up bring out with me.

Once it gets cooler out this fall I can set it up in the yard and experiment a little bit to see how it will all work.

This is a great site with lots on information!

Anyone do one of those 500 watt wind turbines? I’ve seen guys on the airstream forums that swear by them. I’ve always got wind howling when I’m out on the lake. You don’t need much, just to keep it going when the gas runs out in the gen.

For those that are running 2 batteries, what did you do for a vented battery box?

I was thinking of getting a agm battery which I don’t believe will need to be vented…?

Otherwise in my research i saw people putting them in storage bins and running a vent line to them

I was thinking of using one of those plano boxes you can get a Menards and hooking up a vent hose to it.

Any reason you can’t just mount two battery boxes next to each other? That’s what Yetti did in ours.

And from what I read, “technically” AGMs are still supposed to be vented.

Well, you are correct in the agm batteries needing to be vented. I did a quick search. I just figured since they were sealed they didn’t need to be. Thanks for the info waytogo

So is there a hole or cutout between the 2 boxes and still one vent hose?

Happy to help guys. Only know because I was looking at trying to sell my std LA batteries for AGMs and was doing the research.

Yetti ran two vent hoses out to the side on ours. Not sure if this is because of RVIA requirements or “best practices”. I would think you could run a “t” between the two and only pop one exterior vent. Maybe that’s the wrong thing to do though for some safety reason.

What rod length do you guys prefer in your wheelhouse? I like 32” rods most of the time. Will I find myself wishing I had something a little shorter?

I know mrgreen Just kiddin. We fish way too much! We try to balance the fishing with the hanging out. Somedays its more about fishing and other days it’s just enjoying the family. Many days it’s both! wink

You are going to love your new house!

I think rod length depends on how close to the hole you end up fishing. 32 is manageable but any longer I would think might be tougher. Most of mine are 28 but I do own a couple 32.

The biggest power suck is the TV. Have any of you guys separated the TV to it’s own battery so that way when it drains the power everything else will still work?

I’m pretty sure if you isolate the TV to it’s own battery everything should have no problem running all weekend on a separate battery.

I bought a 12v Skyworth tv from the Loves truck stop. It’s powered by a 12v cigarette lighter and has been working great since 2014.

Nice I picked up a Samsung from Savers for $7. I picked up another one for the same price but I can’t remember the brand so I’ll have two going. That way there’ll be one on each end of the house for my guests viewing pleasure. Plus that way I can have one on TV and one for the camera if I want to do it that way.

I’ve got them rigged up on a battery with an inverter but also have a generator. When I had everything rigged together I had about three hours of power on the battery. The lights suck next to no juice. They can go the season on one charge no problem. The TV sucks that much power. Now I’ve got them rigged on a separate system so everything still functions once the TV drains it’s battery. Basically I need to run the generator if I want the TV’s going.

I’m still working on it. Need to finish the trim and give it another coat of paint in a few spots where I sanded down an uneven first coat. It’s an old camper I got for free and gutted. It’s no ice castle but dollar for dollar on comparison value and what I need/want it’ll get the job done.
