What are people using for for a GPS on their Wheeler or sled. I’m looking for something to use for Ice Fishing. Would like something with lake maps (chip). I currently use an H20 handheld, however the screen is to small to see when moving. I only will use it for ice fishing and wold rather not spend to much on it.

I’m using a helix 5 mounted on an atv, it works but a 7 would definitely make reading the depth a lot easier, I just have to slow up a little bit to read the numbers on the 5.

Agree with justin. Have used a helix 5 for several years and it is an awesome accessory. But if your budget allows and you have room a 7 would be the perfect choice. If your budget is tight though like you said you will be super happy with a 5. I also used a Lowrance h2o and it was a great unit but as you stated, not fun to try to read while driving. Helix 5 will fix that. Good luck

Just out of curiosity since I don’t ice fish, do you take them off the wheeler to use as your fish finder or do they just stay mounted?

MN Drifter that’s a sweet setup hanging from the mirror. More information on that setup? I’m going to have to do something like that laying on the center counsel is not very handy.

Old pickup was a 2015 Chevy 1/2 ton, I zip tied a ram ball to the bracket that held the mirror. Then flipped the gimbal mount around on the helix. New pickup, 2020 HD the ram mount clamps down on the mirror bracket nice and tight. No ball needed. But I did end up with a small scuff on my dash from it rubbing. I will never hear the end of it from FW….. Going to have to put a strip of Velcro (soft fuzzy side) on the back of helix to stop that next winter. It’s awesome just driving up to your spot!

I take my Helix 7 out of the boat and use a RAM mount on the ATV, works great. I used to use my HB 597 the same way but that unit doesnt like the vibration of the ATV and shuts off a lot. My Lowrance H2Oc gets used early and late when Im walking out
