Wheel House on Mille Lacs this weekend?

Anyone taking their wheelhouse out on Mille Lacs this weekend? What’s a good resort access to go out from?

As of right now, not many are letting vehicles and wheelhouses. I have a friend who just got his out there through Castaways. He says as far as he knows, they are the only place letting vehicles out right now. Cracks all over the place out there right now and a truck went down off Nitti’s road last night. I will be heading out of Red Door with my portable and snowmobile at about 4am tomorrow morning.

The semi live feed camera from red door shows people driving out and some pulling wheel houses. a wheel house just went out at 2:14 today FYI

A buddy of mine is up there. He said lots of places are letting out trucks and houses off the east side.

Lots of cracks out there though. He put his wheel house tire in a large crack this morning. Not fun I guess. Careful out there.

Better keep making ice. I have the 16×36 rented out of Hunters at the end of the month.

Got a buddy up at Hunters Point this morning, I texted him to see if they were biting, He said they were still in the Lodge because a 1 ton went thru the ice and they have to build a bridge to get yesterdays guys off the ice first. That was at 10 am.

This was the latest report from Red Door posted a couple hours ago:
We checked ice this morning and will remain open to Atv’s, Snowmobiles and Side x Side’s only. Small light wheel houses that can be pulled behind ATV’s will be allowed but NO VEHICLE traffic yet. The extreme cold is opening some small bleeder cracks so we will stay cautious throughout the weekend and hope to open access to vehicles sometime next week. Thanks for your patience
Did you see trucks pulling wheelhouses out today?

Saw a single axel pulled by what looked like a 1/2 ton on their camera early this afternoon.

I’m a small double axle, pulled by a half ton.

I hoped this last weeks cold weather would have done it.

I thought about heading to Red at the last minute, but that ain’t happening, too last minute to put a plan together.

Looks like I’m S.O.L.

Agate Bay sent an email this morning saying they were pulling houses out.

It sounds like the bite is still pretty hot up there. My buddy is up there right now and they’re wrecking them! They might have to pull the rattle reels up to get some sleep! Nice problem to have. Lots of 22″-27.5″ fish I guess.
