Wheel house ID question

With the new regs requiring the license and identification on wheel houses (that are occupied while on the lake) and with it bringing colder now I don’t know how well the stickers would stick to my door and I would rather not have them there (looks tacky to me) I was thinking of getting a magnet made and putting it on the door while on the lake and taking it off while transporting it down the road. Would that even work? Also what form of identification is everyone useing name, drivers license or dnr #?

Do you have a steel door?

The mailbox stickers you can buy at hardware stores or home building stores will stick just fine even when applied cold. Just make sure its clean.

I would have to check. It’s an ice castle.

Those are the ones I think look tacky so if the door is aluminum I may look into getting some custom made so they look a little nicer and just use a heat gun to warm up the area to make sure they stick.

I am not really sure whats new in the regs as far as displaying your info but when I owned a wheel house (granted it was just an old camper conversion) I just wrote down my info on a plank of wood and displayed it in the window. Never had an issue with the DNR. Don’t know if there would be an issue with that method nowadays

I make vinyl stickers as a hobby and have printed quite a few for boat IDs and for fish houses. I can print any size/font in white or black and they come out looking really nice and straight. Depending on the length I can do it for pretty cheap, let me know or PM me if that something you’d be interested in.

I use my first name, cell phone number and DNR#. I put my phone number on in hopes that if there is ever something wrong with my house, someone walking by would see it and possibly give me a call. I guess I still have faith in humanity.

I just checked and the door is steel so I am going to look into the magnet idea. @ mike if that won’t work I will pm you about the custom letters.

I like your thinking with your phone number but as of now we don’t plan on leaving it on a lake unattended or somewhere other than our driveway when not in use.

There are a lot of places online where you can get custom sticker made that will work perfect for this. Can get any color and size. I got one made with my dnr # and just put it above the door on my ice castle. Went on easy and still looks perfect 2 years later. They are basically the same as the graphics Ice Castle puts on their houses. I got mine in white to match the stripes I have. I’d recommend it to anyone versus making a sign or putting big black numbers on the door.

Yep, that’s exactly what I do for people. I use an outdoor rated vinyl that will last in all of the elements. I can do any color but it would just cost a little more because all I have is black and white.
