Last year you all suggested Jay Cook for a camper cabin summer vacay with my nephew. It was awesome with so much to do we had to go non stop. I was thinking maybe Wisconsin this year so any tips on Wisconsins parks would be awesome, otherwise we might be doing mystery cave and then maybe another park on the Minnesota River since we hardly ever go down south.

I have not been there myself but I hear good things about Pattison State Park Wisconsin.

I’m heading to Rainy River in April for Sturgeon, then Lac Des Mille Lac Ontario in June, then Vermilion twice, once Labor Day Weekend and once the beginning of Oct. Also a quick weekend retreat with my wife to Gull.

Otherwise, most weekends we stay at our cabin.

We will be going at the end of October. Specifically walleyes although the first year (two years ago) we were too early in the fall and fished pike for a bit because the water temps still allowed for it.

WOW. End of Oct. As cold as the weather has been on some of our early – Mid Sept. trips I can’t even imagine how cold of weather you must run into up there in late Oct. My fishing buddy took a 2nd trip up there once is Early Oct. and nearly froze to death. How cold of weather have you ran into on your trips that late in the year. Is most of your walleye fishing that time of the year being done in what I’d call the western River part of the lake are are you running all the way to the Eastern main lake part of the lake. That would be one long Cold ride from the Tobin Lake township landing

Heading to the FL Keys soon. Will be fishing a variety of in shore and off shore.

Early spring plan to hit the trout streams with my kids.

Summer will be a mix of Mille Lacs, Leech, and family cabins. Would love to do another fly-in Canada trip this year but not sure if I can pull that off.

Really neat reading everyone’s plans. The last 2 years us as a fam ( 4 adults) drove west, Rockies one year and Yellowstone the next, had a blast. With another Lab pup coming home next week we’re gonna stick to the cabin Lakes this year. In the early 90’s 6 of us rented a house boat on Namakan, pulled 2 boats behind and had a great time. It’s on my radar to get the family on board… Someday.

Depending on where you go in Canada, an average day there will wreck walleye fishing for you in the US. Not saying you cant have an amazing day in the US, but there are more consistent amazing days north of the border. So much water compared to people fishing. We have gotten to the point of using gummy worms for bait, and they work if you are ever in a pinch

Lots of SD Missouri river trips on the schedule. May try and make it over to Erie in March/April if the schedule allows…and then going back to Alaska for 10 days this summer for Halibut/Salmon. It was pre pandemic since we’ve done that trip…so looking forward to it.

This past year we were up for a week. Our first two days were well above freezing then the rest of the week was all 30-32 for highs. It was cold but we were ready. Fishing was great. We fished the river mostly but did spend a couple days on the lake too.

It’s always this time of the year when I think about selling some assets and calling it a career so I can actually do all that I want to do over summer. It goes by so fast and unfortunately too much of it is spent at work.

At a minimum, really thinking hard about buying a cabin this year to act least get me closer to the places I want to go. And working from there at least part of the summer.

Dunno. Life is passing by too quickly and I’m going to spending the majority of it working.

We are heading to the U.P. this summer. Christams and Mackinac island there about. Some kayaking on the lake too.
Hopefully we try to get some fishing in.
Two weeks from today I am taking the 14 year old to Idaho for snowmobiling for his first time.

Going to shoot for 2 trips this summer. 5 days on Rainy Lake in June and a week long family trip to Winnie in August.

Already wishing I could put the snowmobiles back into storage and get my boat out, but have to wait until April. (

It’s not going to slow down. When it does you come to a complete DEAD stop.
