What’s your least favorite dish for Thanksgiving?

It may be blasphemous but I don’t like turkey or pumpkin pie.
The turkey’s only purpose is to provide the gravy to go on the mashed potatoes and the stuffing/dressing that are my favorite parts of the meal. I’ve had turkey moist, dry, smoked and deep fried. I just don’t like turkey at all.
Pumpkin pie hits the trifecta of my not liking the taste, smell or texture of the pie. But I’ll have a slice of pecan or cranapple pie instead.

Not a fan of sweet potatoes but I’m a picky eater, so I’ve been told. whistling

Man, I like pretty much all of it. It’s one of my favorite meals of the year – probably because I don’t ever cook a turkey, otherwise – and if you you learn to brine and cook it right it’s some of the best protein there is! And leftovers are the gift that keeps on giving!

If I had to pick, I’d say sweet potatoes, but I don’t hate them. I’d much rather have squash over sweet potatoes. And maybe I’ve never had a good cranberry sauce, because I like cranberries, but am not the open-the-can-and-flop-it-out-on-the-plate kind of guy.

Honestly the whole meal is a little meh. I like a good stuffing if someone takes the time to make a good one. Taters are good but there just taters. Cranberries are gross and turkey is for sandwiches.

The turkey can go. I’ll dabble with a little dark meat, but turkey white meat is beyond overrated.

An extra thick sliced ham cooked just right (not dry) is substantially better.

We cook Prime Rib on Thanksgiving and there’s never a sliver left to send home with anyone, while containers of leftover turkey are being handed out like parade candy.

Green bean casserole is the most meh for me, but I still eat a little every year and love Thanksgiving dinner. Almost as much as I love the leftovers! rotflol

    Green bean caserole. Ish.

    Ish is right.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, mostly because of the meal and football.

For those that don’t like green bean casserole I think most people just suck at making it, when I make it the way my mom used to I like it but have had most other peoples and did not care for it. Nice to hear from you Sheryl. Hope you and Sheldon have a good Thanksgiving.

I’ll agree with the popular opinion on green bean casserole and cranberries. Turkey is also meh. We are doing the full spread at mom’s house tomorrow, but for my immediate family, it’s lasagna on Sunday afternoon.

Green bean casserole is at the end of its rope regardless of how or who makes it. People that bring that to a Thanksgiving Day meal should get a tax audit the day before to keep them out of the kitchen.

I’m surprised that there are this many people who don’t like turkey.

If you don’t like a barn-raised, store bought Jennie-O or Butterball, you definitely aren’t going to like a wild turkey.

Well gim, you probably havent eaten any free range birds, have you. You know, the ones that just run free in the farm yards and go pick corn from cattle crap? Your Jenny-Os and Butterballs are only 4-5 months old, have never seen clear, clean air and are fed a wonderful array of anti-biotics, hormones and growth enhancers 24/7.

Those free range critters are by far better tasting and in fact completely different tasting than those plastic wrapped suckers.

Turkey. I cant imagine a worse animal to center a holiday feast around. If i were starting a holiday feast – I’d make the guest of honor be a pig or a cow – not a bird. Lol

Lol actually I have, 6 times. Not for this guy. I wouldn’t say its bad, but I wouldn’t say its good either. Its just blah.

Luckily the last 3 times I’ve filled a spring turkey tag, I’ve been able to find a home for it (that isn’t my own), so I didn’t have to choke it down. I like hunting them. I just don’t like eating it.

John, you drop a post like this and don’t share your secret family recipe. I would like to find a recipe that my family likes. Could you please share.

Can cranberry sauce is only on the table for color.
