Hands down for me it’s Drag’s Italian Restaurant and Roman Lounge in Rice Lake WI. We had to drive up to Barron for some BS chore and figured we’re in the area, we gotta make a run to Drag’s. Absolutely the best thin crust, crisp and delicious and a tremendous sauce. Family owned since 1951. So worth the 4 hour round trip just to eat there.

I’ve never had the chance to have some authentic home grown Chicago or New York Pizza. Maybe someday I’ll get to Italy for it (bucket list)

    What’s your favorite pie place?

Local – Broadway Pizza for the best greasy thin crust pizza around. Too bad the original closed but we have one a block from the house.

Favorite ever – Carmen’s in Chicago. I’ve had New York pizza, Detroit pizza and they are good but Carmen’s is my favorite.

one with thin crust and plenty of herbs that light easily, no greasy dripping cheese that put the fire out.
uh,,,ahem, not the pizza joint you are wondering about?

hands down thee best local thing in our area is a small town place that does everything from scratch and your choice of over fifty toppings and done on/in a woodfired grill.
hand tossed crust to your liking.
my favorite?? Reuben pizza !! out of town, out of state and out of this world yummy !!!

Just about any pizza is fine in my book except the style with the sauce on top. That’s just sloppy and wrong.

Don’t forget about Sven & ones out of grand Marais. Not deep crust but just right. Then a little secret basilleos in Faribault. Thin crust, lots of cheese great sauce! That’s my 2 cents.

BIL sent a Lou Malnati’s sausage pizza for my birthday, sitting in the freezer waiting to go. Close to the top of the list for Chicago pizza.

My All time favorite was Captain Jacks.
they had to close due to HWY 94 east bound expansion.
I can still taste it and the settings in bar/restaurant was unbeatable!
Anyone remeber when they had bowling for dollars.
Man that was a long time ago.

Brad, if I remember correctly, the sausage is one big patty correct? Crust looks thick but melts in your mouth

Pitch Coal-fired Pizzaria in Omaha is my favorite overall, especially their meatball pizza.

House of Pizza in St. Cloud/Sartell is my local favorite.

Worked there for a short stint in high school. Pin chaser, running cases of beer from the basement to the bar. Cleaning up at closing time. All long neck bottles or pitchers back in those days… Got paid in cash and blew it as fast as I made it. Yeah, great pizza. And some of those cases were a couple beers short by the time they got to the bar. tongue

The new Savoy shop DT St Paul in the old Daytons building now (Tria / Treasure Island) opened just a covid hit and was closed up for the last 10 months. Just re-opened. I’ll give it a top 3 in DT St Paul right now. Still a few places that need to get back on their feet. Black Sheep and Big River were killer good pre-covid.

Pizza Flame in Coon Rapids. Mansetti’s. Red’s Savoy in Blaine is good, but the St. Paul Red’s off 7th was better. I think that is because there was more flavor built up in the ovens. Border Bar and Sammy’s in International Falls. Most any pizza place when on a guys fishing/hunting/snowmobiling/ATV/get the heck out of town trip.

Lola and Joni are legit. There’s a small wood fire joint in my neighborhood in South MPLS that is unbeatable. Called Pizza Biga and connected to Turtle Bread.

Best pancakes in the city in the morning and best pizza for dinner.

Used to be sammy’s in St. Cloud before the original owner sold it. Now it’s rafferty’s in nisswa. Always try to stop there when up fishing.
