What a cool thread! I have been looking up artists I know little about and really like what I’ve been hearing! I’d add classic live Grateful Dead, a band that has grown on me since I watched Long Strange Trip bio on Netflix. Really outstanding work highlighting the history of the Dead.I’d also add “Blood on the Tracks” by Dylan.

Also a loon fan. I have the privilege of living and working in loon county. I switch back and forth between 93x and 101.7 morning shows, but after that I’m on the loon. Im pretty well rounded on the music other than newer country makes me want to puke.

Z99, classic country, any classic rock that my dad would play on vinyl. Eagles, America, Moody Blues, Dan Folgleberg, plus a little Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, older Hootie and similar.

The first thing that came to mind was Frank Zappa’s trilogy of “Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar”, “Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar Some More” & “Return of the Son of Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar”.

Depending on my mood and if I want mostly music or I want good smart songwriting…

For writing and smart words I’ve been listening to Ian Noe alot, his album Between the Country is great.

For tipping a few back and just humming along and wanting to stomp my foot it’s tough to get better than Whitey Morgan and the 78s, Hard Times and White Lines. It’s straight up and down honkeytonk music like grandpa used to listen to….but it’s new.

Hold on here…No station beats the Power loon! NONE!

That’s what I used to think, Z99 actually plays the same songs as 107.5 Power Loon (like on a 45-60 second delay), but when the Loon goes to commercial Z99 keeps on rocking. Not sure if they are affiliated or what, but always used to laugh for a portion of the drive you could hop between stations and see what song was up next.

Have you heard the acoustic version of Blackened they recently did?

It was already one of my favorites of all time but the acoustic version is phenomenal.

Yes, good stuff. I really like listening to Metallica Piano Covers on youtube. (Search on metallica piano cover) Lots of great music out there!

I enjoy Apocalyptica’s four strings album of Metallica covers. I also heard some bluegrass style covers of some Metallica songs that were kind of cool too, but not nearly as good as Apocalyptica.

i grew up with it. My first loves were grunge and classic rock. since then ive included many different types of music across all types of genres from shoegaze to krautrock, electronic to hardcore, to italo-disco and low-fi, to 40’s jazz and rockabilly, 80’s pop music to country western and bluegrass, but theres nothing like home and grunge is home to me.

STP Core is probably my favorite album of all time. First CD I ever owned.
