Made another trip down on Friday April 3th, 2015 with a few co-workers for their first time. Managed to boat alot of fish is a short period of time once located.
Also on Saturday April 11th, 2015 I had my father down for his first time ever fishing Pool 4. The bite was still good and managed to boat quite a few fish. When fishing the river one thing that has helped my success is data logging. Recording/Tracking flow, pool height, water temp, speed, tactic and presentation. I regularly monitor and record data from http://www.mvp-wc.usace.army.mil/projects/Lock3.shtml.
On Saturday our primary presentation was a version of the miller rig (2oz dropper, 2 Northland clevis snaps 4″ apart, hair jig w/ fathead and Bfishin pulsar paddle tail (purple w/chart tail) very light jig heads. Another presentation that worked well was a simple 3/8oz Lindy Jig Purple w/ Large Fathead.
Location, tight drop offs from rock to sand transition. Boat control near still or no movement.
Thanks again to Everts Resort for all that they do.
