How’s the fishing on pool 4? Seems to be no one with any updates! Those big girls have to be close to dropping their hatch! I was there last Tuesday and the males I caught were milking! Just thought I’d check to see if anyone had a update!

Fishing has been good for Sauger in the last week, not many big girls this year for me, but I have seen a few come up. The key is to keep changing until you find something that works. you could spend all day dragging plastics with ZERO luck, all while passing boats bringing them in constantly using different tactics. Dubuque rigs, 3 way minnows and cranks have been good as of late. Many guys also doing decent on vertical jigging hair/minnows or jig and plastics.

Today’s tactics may not work for tomorrow. Don’t leave the landing without minnows, plastics, 3-ways, cranks and blades. 1 of those 5 tactics will surely pay off, you just gotta tell yourself to change if they aren’t biting. Making yourself change can be a tough task if you’re used to catching on a specific tactic this time of year down there.

Thanks for the report! Just thought it was odd no one was reporting! I totally agree with your report last few times I’ve been there the majority of people were vertical! Not many fish showing up for their efforts! I agree try a few different tactics and one will pay off! My key this year has been the wire in my hand if you know what I’m talking about!! People look at you funny and probly wonder if I even had a pole but the results in the box speak for itself!

It can be very effective! Tossed the rigs in the boat a couple weeks ago, but the crud in the river made it tough to manage. I agree, I love the look people give you when they see your hand hanging off the side of the boat!

I think most would agree the bite has been slow/slower than average. Seems like there are days where it’s alright but it’s not going gangbusters at all.

I have had some great days in the past years down from the bridge to the can line! Anyone been doing anything that way! I really like to stay away from the crowds!
