I’ll be fishing a charter out of Algoma Fri morning. Sure hope we pick a lot up. My brother and I are looking at this as a grocery run. Order of eating priority is fresh meal, frozen meal, SMOKED!! Sure hope I get to smoke some!

I cant speak from personal experience, but from what I’ve heard, the King fishing has been a bit better up to the North there than down here in Milwaukee. Down here, we’re having one of the toughest trolling ever. It just seems like the fish are really spread out. Once and awhile a guy gets on em good, but they never seem to be in the same place the next day or eating the same stuff. We’ve really been struggling to put together consistent patterns this year. Like I said though, sounds like the fishing has been better up that way, and at least there are some tanks around again this year….. Good luck, let us know how you do.

It sounds like the fishing really slowed down in Algoma during the 9 day KD tourney. It’s no wonder considering how many boats are out there trolling around during that period. I’m hearing mixed reports, but overall it sounds like it’s picking up a bit. I’ll be giving Sturgeon Bay a shot myself the following weekend. Hope there are still some big ones around. We had 4 over 20 lbs in early July up there.

If you don’t get enough to appease your bellies, give me a shout in a couple weeks and most likely I’ll have extra Salmon I could push your way.

Thank you. Always happy to offload salmon and smelt from those fortunate to have more than they want. My wife and I cant wait for the next fresh king for dinner. Damn they are good. Its been several years.
I’ll definitely post an update when I get back. Thanks again guys.

We did pretty well. My brother and I got 6 kings and 1 steelhead in 5.5 hours.
Ended up fishing out of a 20′ Warrior with charter. Algoma seems to be doing very well.

NICE! I’m glad to hear you had some good action. I’m heading over to SB on Friday for a 4 day trip. Looking forward to some epic battles with little or no tangles and lost gear:)…… This had been a tough year on my Salmon fishing tackle. I’ve lost lead core, copper, Flasher/fly’s, spoons, and the worst of all a 12 lb downrigger ball, line release, and my $280 speed and temp probe. That one stung a bit.

ouch! All I can tell you is earlier the better. We left the dock at 0400. All of our kings came before sunrise.

PS-MAN I LOVE fresh kings. Cooked a big piece last night and it was awesome. Eating it cold today and its still better than anything you can buy.
I was able to vacuum seal up several meals for the future. Brining the rest tonight to smoke tomorrow. I wish I was closer to that awesome fishery.

10-4; we can do early! It’s not easy, but it’s certainly part of the grind.

To add I think most of our kings came in the dark or near dark. Getting up at 0300 to drive to the docks had me worried but we handled it well and had a normal feeling day into the weekend. I thought my body would get even with me for that move but no problem.
