What's the best Humminbird SI Transducer location on a Skeeter MX1825?

I’m about to install a Humminbird 999ci HD SI on my MX1825, for those with an MX boat and a Humminbird SI transducer, can you post some pictures of your transducer location? I’ll likely use a sternsaver plate, so I’ll have some flexibility to move the transducer in the future if needed, but obviously would like to install in the best location the first time.

Do you ever get SI interference with the main Yamaha motor trimmed all the way down?

I’ll be using the Y cable to route 2D sonar from the factory glassed in ducer, so on plane readings won’t use the SI ducer…

Appreciate any help I can get before I start drilling holes…

Thanks, I’ve read that posting before (and saved that image) That location is about 10-12″ farther to the starboard than SBC typically installs their SI ducers, i’m curious what display feedback is for that location, especially what their port side SI image looks like?

I just ran out to the shop to snap a few pics of a SI ducer on the MX. this is where we install all SI ducers and haven’t had any issue with interference, motor clearance, or even issues with the ladder on the starboard side of motor mount. You are welcome to swing over to look at SI ducers if you are ever in the area as well.

that’s where i put mine on my WX1910 as well. albeit a different boat, but with a relatively similar transom shape (flat with a step).

lambeau, Seems like your ducer is a bit high. Do you have any issues getting a good reading? From what I have researched most put the bottom of the ducer almost even or a touch lower than the step. Like what Cal posted. Just curious did you install or dealer?

mine were professionally installed, with a Y-cable splitting the SI transducer from the high-speed transducer. i troll LotW every fall and hit shallow rocks a few times every week, so it’s important to find a location to get good signals while also protecting my transducers.

the SI ducer is about 1/3 of the way up the transom near the motor mount; this keeps it protected from striking objects when i’m running on plane, but in the water at the slower speeds appropriate for side imaging. the transom on the WX and MX hulls is pretty flat and free of anything that might interfere with the signal to the side.

the high speed transducer is mounted on the right of the transom, flush with the boat’s running surface. i think mounting it away from center affords it some protection from striking objects near the keel (lowest point) while still giving it clean water and good cone angle.

Thanks Calvin for the info. I have seen allot of different transducer locations now on the mx1825. Thinking I’m going to make a backer plate up and clamp from the top of the transom so it closest to where I think is the best location then test. will send photos when complete.

I trust the SBC boys install it in the best place available on the MX1825, it’s where my ducer is going…
