I am a passionate fisherman and especially love ice fishing, but last year I was never able to get out and have been out of touch with the scene for more than a year. I started a business last year so needless to say I have been a bit light on the leisure time. I’m determined to get out this year, assuming we get some ice. I was hoping to hit the St. Paul show this weekend but alas it was not to be.

Just wondering what’s the new gear for this season, at least what is causing excitement? I saw the Marcum RT-9 finally made it to market. What else is cool and notable?

I think some of the best upgrades are in the ice suits and the shanties… nothing notable that I’ve seen this year, but it has really evolved in the last five. As you stated, electronics are on the move at least in the marcum world. Lots of hype with cordless drills running augers with great success. Rapala has embraced the hardwater world and is offering more and better paint jobs. Rippin raps, and slab raps are the latest offerings. Other than those I think everyone is sitting and watching weather forecasts bawling

I’ll have to check out some Slab Raps. Have had very god luck with Rippin’ Raps in the past. Thanks for the tip!
